Verrier Fall Collection

I'm super excited for Verrier's fall/winter 2008 collection to come out in August. The line is designed by Ashleigh Verrier, whose entire Parson's senior thesis collection was bought by Saks and placed alongside Marc Jacobs and Balenciaga in 2004 -- what an honor!
Verrier's new collection is called "Fabergé, Bohemian" and does a wonderful job at mixing the opulence of Imperial Russia with the simplicity of peasant dress -- both of which served as inspiration. In fact, Verrier has said that her inspiration for this collection was solidified during a recent trip to Tokyo saying -- "There I was in the most modern city in the world with my head full of Imperial Russia. Ironically, everywhere I looked people were dressed up. It used to be all about those wild-looking Harajuku girls, but now elegance and femininity rule the streets. It was an unusual instance of the past and the present coming together in a totally unique way." Check-out some of the looks below!

I usually stick with one of the new coats from Mackage, but I might have to reconsider this fall because I'm totally loving the structured, high-neckline of this Verrier coat...those fur Russian hats are so funny! I kind of wish I could pull one of them off...they look so cozy and warm:)

How chic are the scales on this dress? It kind of reminds me of this dress I just bought the other day from BCBG. I just recently started wearing the Max Azria label again after years of ignoring it -- their shoes and dresses have been unexpectedly glam lately and their East Hampton boutique had dresses and tops (including some from Herve Leger), discounted 30-70% this past weekend!
