I was really against animal print clothes, bags, accessories, etc, as a young girl. It just seemed so,,, well,,,
old to me. But now that I
am old, my inner Leo is coming out and I am yearning for a piece or two of leopard to add to my wardrobe. My three year old son wholeheartedly agrees. I was looking at a
vintage YSL leopard coat from Decades today and he was hanging on my arm as he likes to do and he looked over and said "oh, a cheetah dress mommy? You gonna be a cheetah? How 'bout giraffe? I like giraffes. Maybe you can dress like monkey? Monkey is my favorite." How cute is he!?!?!? So I am still looking for that perfect little piece (hopefully one that won't make my little one think I am dressing up for Halloween), maybe a belt or a vintage short swing coat like the one Kate is sporting in this photo. But it's tricky because you can go from stylish to tawdry in a minute with too much leopard. Like this ocelot skirt for example, it's just a bit too much. But the belt, that works for me and would look fab on a black dress or skirt. What do you think of animal prints? Snob or Slob?

I like animal print but like you said don't over do it. I would wear that skirt with a black or brown turtleneck and high boots. I love Cavalli pieces but separately.
Snob! Love the coat on Kate. i think you can rock the skirt, Tina. Like Lori says, black will set it off beautifully. The belt is a must have.
Tina...you definately could work it girlfirend, Kates coat is snob worthy love the belt and skirt let us know what you end up with!! Your little boy sounds so adorable!
Question you mentioned Decades I have been looking into the purchase of a croc & Oistrich birkin, Albeit I have an SA I am too frigthened to ask her incase she says no! Decades has had a new gorgeous blue jean in Niloticus croc and also an Bright orange in Porosus croc...what is the difference in croc and did you see either while you where in store?!
Sorry to ask a bag question on courturesnob!

God, that coat. Can Kate be any more chic and fabulous? Tell us what you end up with. Couture snob is even more addictive than bag snob! There are so many things to yearn for!
Tina, I love that coat on Kate. I think you can pull it off without problems. I am more of a belt girl myself, but I have a much more conservative style than you. Let us know what you get.
xoxo
I think you can do it tina! Snob for the coat and belt! The skirt is not as fabulous but can you find that coat? Please let us know where if you do, would love one for myself!
weep weep just missed out on that croc birkin in decades...do still let me know the difference between the two?1 You haven't purchased the gorgeous croc in the blue jean have you, I know your on a bag diet but it looked divine!?

Hi Lottie, sorry for late reply, am traveling and a bit hectic. Here is the info on Hermes croc skins:
Porosus crocodile from Australia- Most commonly found on Northern shores of Australia, New Guinea and Indonesia. Hermes does not glaze the Porosus croc skins so they will never peel. This skin is polished with an agate stone and the skin has to lay flat under the machine so once it is made into a bag, you will never be able to polish it again! I've ordered mine in Graphite (it turns gray, black or brown depending on the light) and am anxiously waiting it's arrival. The Rouge 95 is also amazing and gorgeous!
Niloticus crocodile from Africa- the ever popular matte croc is rich and sumptuous. (All crocs have to be at least 10 years old to meet Hermes standards)
This entry has the complete info on Hermes leathers and exotics-- http://www.bagsnob.com/2008/03/hermes_kelly_wallet.html
Did you get your Goya? You better hurry, the gray is a must for Fall and will carry you through Spring@!!! xoxo
Thanks Tina...I know your busy the next few wks so thanks for your time and info!
Do you have many croc Birkins, in your opinion should you get a classic colour rather than a bright or unusual colour? I know Hermes only works with the best quality materials but does one of the two types of croc withstand time & use better? Is there a difference in price and also do you think a 30cm is more wearable & a better size than the 35cm?
Wow I ask too many questions, but your knowledge is fabulous!
I have spoken to Mindy on the Goya & even with both of you saying go grey as it will go with more in your wardrobe but I still just love the idea of the Blue?! I'm trying to make my decision, an Mindy said she would let me know when I may be nearly out of time on my decision!!! Decisions decisions, have you use yours loads already! If I had the spare cash I would get both but I should be so lucky!!!!
Well safe travels!

Hi Lottie,
The goya is a bag to collect in many colors but I would get the gray first. It is amazing, has white flecks of details down the center of the shagreen. So gorgeous, I know you will wear it often. The carribean blue is of course nice but you won't use it as much, it is very summery! xo
when it comes to animal print there is a fine line b/t snob and slob. I think you, like Kate, would be total snob in animal prints, but most people look slob.
Alison, that is such a nice compliment. Now if I can just find the right little coat... I am settling for the belt for now. From Ralph Lauren, I must say-- leopard is a huge departure for his sporty highness :)
Did Fendi ever make a Leopard printed pony or horse hair
Half moon style bag?
Tina~~I too with age have started to love leopard, to much of it is a bit tacky, I love that vintage coat though, I love to add a little leopard to jazz up an outfit. That belt is nice, I would wear that.
but the skirt? a bit much for me...I have a leopard scarf I like to wear from time to time...."Leopard, it goes with nothing, wear it with everything"!!thats what I say.

Tina,
I think that every fashionista should have leopard pieces in their collections. I have a lippicat coat; an animal print Fendi Baguette that I still use every year; a valentino leopard belt; 2 leopard print skirts (a vintage YSL, and a Dior;) leopard Dolce Gabbana shoes; a vintage Celine leopard handbag, etc.
I pair these with simple black and it always looks so chic...
Go for it...
