Carolina Herrera Spring 2009

As always Carolina Herrera's collection is exquisitely beautiful with a colorful palette for spring and silhouettes suited for the red carpet and upper east side dinner parties. The bright persimmons and teals stole the show in ruffles and layers flouncing across the runway. Her signature tweed was incorporated into the spring collection in an organza and used as trim - the strapless teal faille dress with this contrasting trim got everyone's attention down the runway. My favorite was the black and white off the shoulder chiffon jacquard beaded gown - the fabric looked almost shredded so the jacquard was not fully seen, just there to add texture and contrast to the feather-like effect of the chiffon.

I sat across from Renee Zellweger (she of course was there to shop for red carpet needs). I was distracted by her obvious reaction to each look. The persimmon strapless silk organza gown with the cute ruffle details below the bust and multi-layered skirt made her break out in a big smile as she nodded to whoever was sitting next to her as if to say, "this is the one". Although my pick for her is the black raffia bustier with the multi-layered skirt - it has more of an edge that I feel she should have instead of the always safe and sweet. There was so much texture in the layers, the back of the bustier has cute ruffles on the bottom and I just loved the simple structured top juxtaposed with the bountifully feminine ruffled skirt.

  • I've always like Carolina Herrera. However, I just can't seem to afford her clothes. Maybe one day! Sigh!

  • I loved the dress she made that eva longoria recently wore...how expensive are the cocktail and evening gowns?!
