Ruffles abound for Fall 2008 but who can really carry them off without look like a pirate? If you need a visual, just think of Seinfeld and the frilly puffy shirt. But that’s not to say all ruffles are created equal. In fact, if done subtly and tastefully, I quite like a girly ruffle or two. The tops below are too busy for petite girls to carry off, but if you are over 5′ 8″ and bean pole skinny– go for it. If you are petite, go for a sleeveless style so you don’t seem like you’ve been swallowed in a sea of fabric (above). But what do you guys think, to ruffle or not to ruffle?
Top Left- Pleated tank top Net a Porter Right- Bill Blass Flamenco backless blouse
Bottom Left- Stella McCartney Ruffle-front shirt
Net a Porter Right-Roberto Cavalli Ruffle-front blouse

To ruffle! When it’s not too overpowering. I find the white one too Ivana trump for me. But the little black tank is cute.
No Ruffle, any chest bigger than a B cup and the general look isn’t kind, not mention when the wind picks up!
i like ruffles, but only when its very minimalistic and not too heavy.
please check out my blog, http://lacouturiernyc.wordpress.com =)
Ruffle! But not too much though..the white blouse looks soft and romantic.
since I am a 85B cup I’ll say no, but if you have smaller bust I say go for it.
I’m in the same group as Bobbi above and that sometimes ruffles make us larger chested ladies look a little funky. I do love the Bill Blass white ruffle blouse however, and would be more than willing to try it on, just to see! I have been looking for a nice feminine ruffle blouse, but so far I’ve struck out because they either have too much going on, or it’s just a bad cut overall for my petite, large busted frame!
Bummer!
