Vera Wang Spring 2009

As I mentioned in Bagsnob.com, my most anticipated fashion show at New York Fashion Week, season after season, is Vera Wang. She is always slightly off the fashion barometer; while most designers showed shades of blues and bright neons for Spring, Vera continues with her soft if somber colors. But that's not to say she doesn't pay heed to current favored trends; the belted silhouette was embraced effortlessly on her runway and she shortened and slimmed her usual balloon shapes.

The evening looks were shortened which is a look many red carpet queens have embraced. A sequined panel on a floating piece of chiffon made the biggest impression, Vera's girl need not show much skin but rather it is what's imagined that is most seductive. I am also crazy for the skinny pants with tunic belted and bejeweled. There were so many looks I gasped over! I guess the reason I love Vera so much is because she embodies the woman I'd like to be when I grow up-- sophisticated, confident and unapologetic. One who makes the most simple pair of walking shorts with a soft knit top look polished and groomed. Vera Wang also available at Net-a-porter.com
