(Red and black $345, also in Purple and black)

Shopbop.com is offering a special right now with code THANKS2U which will give you 20%-30% off of the entire site including these fabulous dresses from Black Halo.  Hello, these are only the hottest dresses in Hollywood so before you see them on Paris, Carmen or some other random movie star, get yours first!   I have the Jackie O dress in black and every time I wear it I feel fabulous.  I just ordered the ruffle dress in gray (such a great color for me) and the jacket dress in purple.  I have too many red dresses and I fear they are all blending into each other.  Actually, I have too many dresses but I just love dresses!  I don't care that separates are in, a dress is still the easiest thing to pull on.  You don't have to think about top or bottom, just pull on and go.  Black Halo dresses are not as well made as my Mouret dresses but hey, at a few hundred bucks I call it run around clothes.  Free shipping for everyone, including International readers!!!

Snob Store Alert: Vera Wang opens boutique in NYC!

user-pic
vwbagssp09.jpgI am so excited about the opening of Vera Wang's boutique today, it's enough to make me want to hop on the next flight to the city and shop to my heart's content!

The space is conceived as a white-box theater, with a double-height proscenium stage at the front, the middle stage down the steps, and the backstage areas toward the rear.

The architecture is designed to not upstage the collection; rather, it is conceived as a subtle, neutral backdrop to the collection, which remains the centerpiece of the space. vwsp092.jpg

As with everything Vera does, I am certain this will be amazing. The 2,500 sq ft boutique will stock all of Vera's fabulous signature ready to wear, Lavender label, fragrance and accessories (I can't wait to get my hands on the bags!!!) Our New York readers should RUN over to 158 Mercer, like, pronto! If you don't live in NYC or are in a turkey induced coma, you can call the boutique to order by phone -- (212) 382-2184

Can you believe this insanity?  But I am not one to ask stupid questions, I just go for the deal and you should, too!  This chic little Michael by Michael Kors leopard print dress (on sale for $107) is a must have. A little Sophia Loren mixed with Americana attitude, now who can't use a dose of that?

The cobalt blue dress is from Black Halo and was $345, now $173 but this weekend will be additonal 30% off ($121!!!) I am obsessed with Black Halo, I have a little black dress from the line that is sheer perfection, it fits every curve and contour and I wear it all the time. It's been my dirty little secret since an acquaintance introduced me to the brand last May but recently it was featured in US magazine and you know once Sasha Charnin Morrison features something in US, it's a guaranteed must have.

The additional 30% off sale is for the weekend only so take advantage of it tomorrow morning! Call Giovanni 972-629-1700 ext 2037 or go see him at the Willowbend Neiman Marcus on Black Friday! I am scared of the crowds on the day after Thanksgiving so I will be shopping via the internet today while everyone watches football and sending Giovanni my order, lol.

Tarina Tarantino

user-pic
HAT01U8Nude_detail.jpg Tarina Tarantino is a name that has become synonymous among LA's elite fashionistas with one word... "sparkle"! Her products are whimsical and unique, and sometimes integrate a touch of the macabre. The designs of Tarina Tarantino are unmistakably girly, and while I am not one to leave my house dressed in pink and covered in sparkles, I found several items that felt very satisfyingly feminine. This Crystal Pave Mini Top Hat from her "Dollskin Collection" is my absolute favorite piece!! This hat is the most unquestionably fabulous accessory for the Holidays, and the only thing I would want to grace my coif come whatever New Years Eve party I choose to grace with my presence ;). Each Mini Top Hat is handmade and completely covered in Swarovski crystals (in the color of your choice, of course), and graced by a delicate frothy bouquet of tulle flowers set to one side. But you better make your purchase soon, because each piece is 'couture' you can expect a 3-4 week wait, which means you should order now if you want to wear this lovely item during the holidays!

Celeb Trend: Sequins-- Snob or Slob?

user-pic
taylor_swift.jpgmariah_carey.jpg Images from people.com christina_aguilera.jpg

Based on Couture Snob Kelly's write-up of the AMA's and from what I saw from the red carpet on TV, the award show was heavy on sequins and embroidery. Could this be a new trend? Personally, I hope not!!

I love the idea of dressing-up of course, but something about this amount of sequins just makes me think of a Staten Island prom (not that I've ever been to one, but these are the sorts of dresses I imagine the girls would wear!). Also, I have to say that with everything going on with the economy these says I was somewhat surprised that so many stars opted for such showy, glitzy outfits.

What do you think of the Sequins trend-- snob or slob?

American Music Awards 2008 Fashion Review

user-pic

I intended for this review to go up yesterday but you must forgive me as I was recovering from a long day and late night. I had a total blast at the show, but it is exhausting standing in the press line on the red carpet for 4 hours! And nobody shows up until the end but they make the press show up super early so we don't interfere with arrivals. But what I am really suffering from is the free drinks at the after party. I know, nobody feels sorry for me but it doesn't change the fact that I could not function all day! Anyway, here is my review, finally.

rihanna.jpgrihanna_stage.jpg

For the most part, everyone looked great. It seems like everyone has a stylist these days and they played it safe with evening gowns from big designers. What happened to rock stars and their fun, bold fashion? Even on stage it was all very proper and demure. Well, until Rihanna came out in a fully studded and extremely pointy body armor. She even started off with a rhinestone encrusted eye patch. It was a definite contrast to her fluttering red carpet mini dress and nude Louboutins. Is she trying to look like Prince? Cuz it cannot be a coincidence.

aliciakeyes.jpgaliciakeys_stage.jpg

Alicia Keys was the most stunning on the red carpet with an asymmetrical navy gown with rhinestone embellishments but she kicked it up a notch in a similar toned short corseted dress for her performance. It is a huge improvement as far as fashion is concerned but she did lose her own style with this new glamorous magazine cover look.
