Katie Decker. Remember this name because it is one you will be reading about for many years to come. I first came across this young jewelry designer through her number one fan-- her mother Liz-- when she attended a beauty event I did at Neiman Marcus in Houston last month for Natura Bissse. Liz was wearing the most beautiful jewelry (Katie's signature gold ivy hoops with diamonds $2,700 and pearl pendant above) and I couldn't take my eyes off of them. I finally begged her to take them off so I could try everything on (I will stop at nothing to get what I want!). When I discovered the pieces were designed by her daughter Katie Decker-- a Junior at Texas A&M majoring in Finance-- I knew I had to share her beautiful pieces with our readers!
Katie Decker has been an artist from a very early age. Having won art awards even in elementary school, she always knew she wanted to be a designer. Katie grew up admiring her mother's collection of jewelry and was inspired. She began sketching anywhere she could, including her school textbook margins. Her mother noticed and fell in love with her feminine designs. Katie decided that it was time to bring her sketches to life. Her first collection, the "Ivy Collection", is whimsical yet classic. Katie designs with the woman in mind, making her designs light, comfortable and ideal for everyday wear. All of her pieces are hand-finished and made of 18K white and yellow gold.

Katie continues to expand on her designs while finishing her Finance degree at Texas A&M University. Upon completion, she hopes to turn more textbook sketches into future jewelry collections. I feel like I know Katie through her designs. I envision her to be a
sensitive and thoughtful spirit with an intellect to match. She has
decided to pursue a finance degree in lieu of going to fashion school
so she will know how to run her business. This young lady clearly has
her head (and heart) in the right places and I predict she will be a
major player in the design world!

Beautiful-I am impressed with her use of Nature in her designs-one of my favorite themes for jewelry. Delicate and fragile, yet strong from the materials used (gold, diamonds, etc.)...just like nature! Such an accomplished young woman!
