Trend Alert: Bathrobe Chic! Snob or Slob?

user-pic
bathrobechic (2).jpg If you've ever dreamed of wearing your comfy bathrobe to work, this is the season to do so.  Seriously, is it me or are cardigans looking a lot like robes!?!?   They look really comfortable but my problem is I'd want to wear my pajamas all day, too.  Actually, I wear my pajamas to Pilates quite often!  Comfort in this case, however, comes at a steep cost and I wonder if everyone will find them worthy of the investment.

Here is Madonna wearing an actual bathrobe while going through Airport security in Germany a couple of months ago.  She's such a trend setter!  I know they ask people to remove sweaters and jackets when going through security, I wonder if she has anything on under robe?

What do you think of the bathrobe trend?  Snob or Slob?

  • I would love to traipse around in my robe all day but not at these prices.

i have to say Slob on Madonna though

  • T~~I LOVE these "bathrobe" type sweater jackets, I own the Burberry you have posted, (LOVE IT) I am 5'8 so I think I can pull it off, if you are short you shouldn't wear such long jackets unless it was a nice fitted coat. (my opinion) almost like how you feel about larger bags on yourself, My girlfriend is tiny like you, she had on this type of long sweater jacket last year while we shopped. The poor thing looked like she was swallowed up by it.
Anyhoooo, pair them with jeans tucked in boots and your good to go!! =)

  • I agree, it looks cute on taller women...I'm 5'6 and still think it looks silly on me despite wishing all day long I could pull it off...I love casual, but maybe it's okay I can pass on them, because they are all kinda expensive. I would rather buy a couple of cashmere sweaters instead and call it a day.

  • Totally agree with B, you have to be tall to pull this look off. I am 5'8" and wear these long cardis a lot, perfect outfit for the fall. I love them with skinny jeans. Mine are very fitted though, otherwise they look sloppy.

    xoxo

  • love it

  • I do like the bathrobe look but I am petite so some times it can be a bit big for my frame but I do love the trend. On Madonna though I'd have to say it's slob.

  • hideous
    Slob

  • I had a very similar knit cardigan by Burburry as the one shown now about 2 years ago,but got rid of it quickly after using it two times. It looked nice, but somehow it just didnĀ“t feel me. I looked like a baggy old woman in it. The thick collar was too bathrobe like. Maybe these cardies look better on younger women. I have had my share of them.

  • see I hate wearing a bathrobe even straight after having a shower! I always change into my clothes immediately. Some people just can't pull of the casual cool look and I am one of them.

  • TOTAL SLOB!

It looks like somebody has been taking style cues from the Golden Girls.

  • This is definitely cool and not just a trend of the moment. This style has been around for a while. You just have to have the height to pull this off. And those who feel sloppy in this chunky sweater should try a belt (not the one that comes with the cardi but a thin leather belt, for instance) to cinch your waist. That way, you can create a clean and fitted look. Tina, you're tiny and cute and I'm 5'9". I think it's a bit hard for you to pull off this look, just like I can't look good in your cute lovely style.

  • I looove sweater coats. I managed to purchase one from Vince. At first I thought it would overwhelm me (I'm 5'2" and 90 lbs) but it was knee-lentgh with 3/4 length sleeves so it didn't really overwhelm me.

  • I have a Juicy long ivory-colored cable sweater but because it has leather buttons, it doesn't look bathrobey. Love it, very versatile.
