From her Angela Chase grunge-inspired style to her Zac Posen-loving red carpet affairs, Claire Danes has surely shown us she can make an intense, yet lovely style transformation. We love her casual look these days, which still maintains an air of formality to it, however paired with the right casual elements makes it appropriate for running errands. You too can get the grown-up Claire Danes look, even on a budget!
Let's start with her jacket -cream, opposed to white, is a nice color match to compliment the fair-skinned beauty. We also like the way that she's made a large off-center bow with the jacket tie to further define her slim frame. (Jump for more!)
To get the look, lets first mimic the silhouette of Claire's jacket with this Smitten Tie Waist Jacket, $94 at (NationalJeanCompany.com); the rounded neckline gives it a sophisticated, vintagey aesthetic, while the tie-waist prevents it from getting too bulky. For a dressier approach, we're into this BCBGMAXAZRIA White Sateen 1-Button Tie Detail Blazer ($139.99, Bluefly.com), which can be paired with jeans and some killer boots.
Last, the Meadow Tie Jacket ($64, Ann Taylor Loft) is a fresh approach on the blazer/jacket combo with a cropped length and ribbon tie belt.
For our next style suggestion, we'd like to recommend some affordable denim options. Claire's jeans are more of a medium wash hue, and have a slight boot cut to them. We've fallen for the Trueboot Jean in Vintage Indigo Wash, $39.50 at American Eagle, as the perfect jean to duplicate the look, or the Bootcut Jean in Authentic Vintage Wash ($108, J.Crew) will nicely fit the look.
For shoes, we decided comfortable pump with a stiletto heel or boots with a softly rounded toe would best resemble Claire's footwear. We found three options for you: the Bloom 'Holden' Boot ($79.90, Nordstrom) is slim enough to fit under jeans, and sleek enough to also pair with a skirt or dress, add a little detail to the toe via these Abaeté for Payless Zoey Ribbon Pumps ($38, Payless), or go the cropped, bootie route with these Alfani "Darcy" Booties ($69.99, Macy's).
And of course, we can't forget her bag! We strongly recommend going for a black, and black only with the duffle-style satchel bag to complete the Claire Danes look. Our top two picks are the Cole Haan "Village" Dome Satchel ($450, Macy's) and the
Alexis Hudson Black Leather 'Madeline' Satchel ($375, Bluefly.com). Since these are both pricey bags, the Galnroan Bag, ($50, Aldo) or the BMidtown Satchel ($98, Steve Madden) is a nice compromise to still channel the look, and not spend an arm and a leg!
