Please forgive me for bringing up Facebook again but each day I find myself reconnecting with long lost friends from as far back as junior high school! Of course with that comes nostalgia for what once was and what may come back again. Like Madonna; not Madonna as you know her now but Madonna as I knew her in 1983. When she dressed me up in her love (all over, all over) with white lace and black studded belts and booties. Oh what I wouldn’t give for my old studded belts from high school though this time around I won’t wear the black lace fingerless gloves. Apparently Christopher Decarnin of Balmain has heard my prayers (along with the prayers of every woman/man who grew up in the ’80s) because his Spring 09 collection is a luxe interpretation of Madonna’s street wise fashion from her humble beginnings (funny how she had more style when she only made $10 a night as a bouncer at a sleazy bar as opposed to now that she’s worth hundreds of millions).
I’m dying, really dying for the studded Giuseppe Zanotti for Balmain sandals on the left. If I can get my hands on them I promise I won’t wear acid wash jeans with them. I have been discussing the thonged toe with my fellow shoe whore Sasha Fierce. We both agreed that it matters not if they cut off the circulations of our big toe– these are worth it! But I am not worried as these are Zanotti designed and his shoes have never hurt me, yet. Available at Bergdorf Goodman this Spring.

Balmain….ahhh head-to-toe everything Christophe Decarnin puts his name on is covetable
oh these shoes are divine, how do we get?
These are HOT!!!!!! LOVE!!! I couldn’t pull these off, but Tina you can totally ROCK them!!! (Sasha you TOO!!!) lol.
The spring collection is impeccable, the jackets are grail worthy. Unfortunately, the prices are enough to send you into cardiac arrest.
Anette, you can also pre-order the shoes here.

They are absolutely stunning, but again the price is a little jaw dropping.
I’m sorry, is that fifteen hundred euros for the dresses or FIFTEEN THOUSAND?
OMG- outrageous!
On second thought, I won’t be getting these. It seems obscene to spend this amount on a pair of shoes right now. I had no idea how much they’d cost. Wow.
Everything Balmain is obscenely priced..I’m pretty sure even their white tees go for around $1000
omg, i’m looking at this poor model’s toes and her hammer-looking-toes remind me of that that snob guest blogger who needed major foot surgery
ok tell me the price!
I think that you should stay away from these shoes, unless you have absolutely perfect feet. You know everybody will be looking at your feet very closely. I am not one of those with perfect feet, so I will not be dishing out the 2 grand anytime soon…
hey tina – christophe decarnin’s/balmain’s stuff is UBER expensive. i read a really interesting article recently in NYT magazine about him – he’s a bit elusive and stays out of the public eye although – carine roitfield and julia restoin-roitfield (his BFF) are obsessed with him and have practically escalated him to his current popularity. you can’t pick up a french vogue without a featured accessory or RTW by balmain….esp. dec/jan issue!! here is the link…hope you can see it.

p.s. it’s takes a little while to load and the article is kind of long, but definitely worth reading esp. if you love Balmain!!
Where can I find these? The price is not the issue, the finding them is! Last year, I missed out on Christian Louboutin’s gold spiked platform heels by mere HOURS. I cannot let another fantastic pair of shoes pass me by. Thank you!
