Barbie turns 50 this year and I am proud that she has not lost her love for all things pink! My first Barbie came with a Barbie Van-- it had a rooftop pooldeck, bathroom, kitchen and bunk beds. I was obsessed with that van and prayed I'd grow up one day and live in one. Good thing my prayers were never answered because it would take about 10 vans to store all of my bags! Did you know the color pink was originally considered a masculine color as it was a variation of red? Up until the 1920's, blue was deemed more appropriate for girls-- it was considered delicate, dainty and related to the Virgin Mary. Since the 1940s, the societal norm apparently inverted so that pink became appropriate for girls and blue appropriate for boys, a practice that has continued into the 21st century. I also heard once that pink was a color worn by soldiers centuries ago because it was considered to be a color of power. Check Kirna Zabete for the most fabulous pink of the season.

Pink is definitely the color demi mode for east coast prepster boys! (And men for that matter). It takes a man to wear pink, they insist. And it does look quite good on most!
That said, I love pink for girls too--it's fun and you can find a shade that is flattering on almost any skin tone.
Pink is my FAV color!!! boys can SO wear pink--I dress my boys in pink! people think they are girls-well people think they girls anyway due to their shoulder length hair and extremely long eye lashes(they are total rock stars!) but even with shorter hair they were mistaken for girls.(its the eye lashes) my 10 year old hates it-my 5 year old tunes it out!! lol..but they like pink and dont mind wearing it..PINK RULES!!!!!!

I guess it can be both ways. I have a 3 month old niece who looks beautiful in pink. She has blue eyes, so I bought her a blue dress which she also looks gorgeous in! We always put a bow in her hair if she is not in pink, so everyone knows she is a little girl.
Here in France, pink is the color of rugby players. And, what sport, pray tell, is more macho than rugby? Stade Francais, the Parisian pro rugby team wear pink uniforms and they kick ass. www.stade.fr
Oh, and my 10 year old son (rugby player too)looks gorgeous in his pink Abercrombie button-down shirt.
I don't think the trend of purple on men, especially portly newscasters, is as attractive as pink.
LOve, love , love pink on boys and grown men. My husband and my 1.5 year old son wear pink polos and button downs. I think my little boy looks better in pink than his 3yo sister. PINK is fab!
