Studded Showdown

I ran into Wendy aka retro gurl from Nitrolicious at the Vogue/Jimmy Choo event and she was rockin' a pair of fierce studded sandals. At first glance I thought they were Balmains but she gleefully told me "Aldo!". I had never shopped at Aldo before but apparently it's a very popular chain of shoe stores. Of all the copy cats (Zara has a pair, too), this pair from Aldo (called the Smeal) looked most appealing to me because it's not an exact replica like some of them. The Smeal is obviously inspired by the Balmains but at $125 it could hardly be called competition for the $2300 pair! The platform instead of thonged toe also looks more comfortable. What do you think? Smeal or not to Smeal?

  • Tina-

GO FOR IT, what's to lose $125? That night I wore it to the Jimmy Choo event for 3 hours and it didn't hurt my feet, the platform helped a lot. I'm not always in heels so if they're comfortable for me to prance around for 3 hours they're pretty comfy! I also wore them yesterday and got a lot of people asking me where I got them, they're eyes are like drawn to the shoes immediately, they're so hot! ;) let me know if you end up getting them!

  • Ahhh....Aldo, land of cheap shoes and bleeding blisters.

  • the balmains aren't worth it...even on the runway, the model's foot looked like it was in utter pain! save the money and go for hotness AND comfort tina!!!

  • very nice post and all post is very luxury

  • Come on, Tina. Are you really going to wear a pair of Aldo shoes with your Birkins? The Balmains may or may not be worth the $2300 price tag, but they are undeniably beautiful. The Aldo pair just looks cheap.

  • I like the Aldo pair better. The studs are softer on the Aldo pair, its more feminine. They are very cute go for it! I'm thinking about getting myself a pair...

  • o the shoes is so cute
