A chic little cocktail dress is no longer limited to evenings– you can wear them anytime! This dress from Derek Lam has been hanging in my closet for weeks waiting for the right occasion but yesterday I thought, why does anyone need an occasion to wear a fabulous frock? So I pulled it out and wore it during the day to run errands. I paired it with black Alaia ballet flats and a tiny cardigan which made it totally daytime appropriate. Even mundane events like my doctor office visit and the grocery store felt like an occasion. This dress is 100% cotton which makes it very versatile. So I got a couple of strange looks at the grocery store but I prefer to think it was because they liked my dress

So don’t keep your dresses in the closet, beautiful clothes are meant to be worn, often! A cropped motorcycle jacket would be amazing with this as well and in the winter, add boots and tights!

I wore a cocktail dress with a little cardi and flats to my son’s bris. very few things make you feel and look good 8 days after you give birth. There I was in an ODLR dress at 9am on a Sunday morning.

How great! I have attended many bris, the last one I was at my friend’s 7 year old son pushed his way up to the front where he fainted when he saw the procedure!

I think the cotton makes it more wearable for day. I wore a cocktail dress to a bar-b-q once. I had another event and didn’t have time to change in between. My shoes posed a problem on the grass but other than that, I felt glamorous!
Oy. Poor guy. Yes, that’s not a fun thing to watch…

I love that dress T…hot hot hot!!! even hotter that you wore it grocery shopping….but anyway you dress for yourself, so if you want to wear a lBD cocktail dress in the day then go for it!!! I’ve not yet done it but often think about it when I’m a bit down and having an ugly day, I’d love to get all glammed up then sit down with a large bag of Malteasers (not sure you get these in the states…its chocolate balls with crunchy bits on the inside)and watch trashy TV!!! I also have a love of hats…the sort you wear to weddings, I would just love to wear one to work with some of my outfits!!! Mad I know!
Tina I have a little question, I have been watching The City and seen a jacket that I just love on their worn by Oliviar I have found that it is in fact a DVF jacket from pre cruise/spring 08 (white piped in black thinkit is look 57) do you have any idea where I should start in hunting this jacket down?!
