In a fashion rut? Try Haider Ackerman

I am in what you'd call a fashion rut. I'm sick of my clothes (yes even the half a dozen RM Roland Mouret dresses I have) and want a shot of new energy to my closet (kinda like the balding man who craves a new Ferrari in his garage).  I was at Barneys yesterday and Nini, a very chic sales girl there, turned me on to Haider Ackerman after I told her of my predicatment. One look at Ackerman's divinely shaped clothes and I went from rut to lust (sorry could not resist!). The draped and washed leather jacket? I must have it! The shaded, twisted, gathered and draped dress above? I MUST HAVE IT. In fact, everything made by Ackerman got the same reaction from me. I MUST HAVE IT. The dress is unlike anything I have in my closet. I love that it's complicated but so simple at the same time. I do have an urge to belt it but will have to see how it falls on me first. 1,170.00 EUR/ $1,587.33 USD HAIDER ACKERMANN - SHADED AND GATHERED STRETCH DRESS here with free shipping anywhere in the world!

  • Just looked at the beautiful pieces at Bergdorf's... Love this dress along with
a satin skirt, black satin pants and a brown leather jacket. Brian is a great salesperson.

  • That dress is gorgeous, but a little sheer, no? If you look at it from behind, you can clearly see the model's butt cheek?

    • Hah, I was about to say the same thing! It's so low in the back that you can't wear a bra, which might be why it looks like the model's boobs are pointing in two completely different directions. (Look, the chocolate one is pointing straight ahead like a good little soldier whilst the taupe one looks very saggy).

Then, it's so high on the thigh at the back that you could barely wear underwear, let alone underwear of the control variety, which might be quite important because that fabric looks very sheer and as though it would cling to every imperfection. It's a beautiful idea but I'm not sure that it translates to reality very well.

On the other hand, if you were the woman in a million who wore it well, I presume that you would make everyone at the party choke on their olives in sheer envy at how toned and pert you were. A dress to wear post-divorce or break-up maybe so that you can say, "hah, look what you missed!" as you walk on by.

    • I've been struggling with this also. I'm hoping because I'm short it will be longer on me.

In any case I will try it on and see, they have a good return policy!

    • WOW... great observations, ladies! But how can you resist the draping and the colors of this dress?!?! Oh, IT IS TO DIE FOR! I would get it anyway and alter it =). If you absolutely love this dress and MUST HAVE IT, all you have to do is bring it to the tailor and have him add another sheer layer underneath.

  • I love the dress especially from the front view. Show us a picture when you were it I'm sure you look adorable in it!

  • this is not a dress it's a work of art
totally not wearable, you can see her cheeks!

  • The dress is supposed to be worn with leggings that come
in brown and if I remember a grey.
Loved the blue satin skirt, brown leather jacket and blk satin pants.
Saw them at Bergdorf's they are supposed to get some other pieces in.
According to Brian a very nice salesperson.
