A month in the life of a Shoe Snob

I am an obsessed shoe shopper– it is at the same level as my bag habit if not even more insane (I’d say for every bag I buy, I buy 6 pairs of shoes!). I actually wanted to do a shoe blog when we started Bag Snob but did not have the time with a newborn baby plus Kelly said there were too many shoe blogs already. givenchybootssale609.jpgAnyway, last month was a very satisfying shoe month. I bought everything from S/S 2009 to F/W 2009 and a few at Neiman Marcus Last call for practically free.  I had some free time this morning and took photos so I can share all the yummy purchases.

First, I am completely and totally addicted to Alejandro Ingelmo shoes, especially the Pistola bullet shoe boot (no need for a gun when you’ve got these babies on)! I bought the pale blue pair at Neiman Beverly Hills (full price) only to see them a few weeks later on Gilt.com for 70% off in grey patent. I grabbed them and justified it in my mind as getting two pairs of current season shoes for about 40% off total (you can get the pink pair here at Brown’s Fashion full price). They are the most kick ass booties, ever (other than my Givenchy booties that I got at Barneys last week when it went 40% off).  The black t-strap sequin shoes below left are from Miu Miu pre-Fall 09 currently at Neiman Marcus– email Connie for a pair.  And the Jil Sander hot pink shoes were 90% off at Neiman Marcus Last Call, yes you read correctly.  90% off!  How can a girl resist a pair of sexy stilettos that resemble ancient Chinese architecture, in pink no less!?!?!? (Jump for more!)

I almost passed out when I saw these Alaia satin ballerina style platform shoes with crocodile heel. Again, 90% off! They are so chic for evening with formal wear but I wore them with distressed jeans the other day to lunch and felt very glam even though I was bloated and PMS’ing. Nothing like a hot pair of shoes to make a girl feel better!

alaiaballerinaplatform.jpgThese Alaia ballet flats with leather cutout detail were also 90% off. I’m not a flats girl but Alaia makes them not only comfy but oh sooooo sexy! I doctor up every pair of shoes I own, the zebra pads are from foot petals. I take really good care of my feet because I plan to wear
stilettos until I’m 6 feet under.

I love the Pierre Hardy strappy platforms below, they are so comfortable and the nude shade is very elongating and flattering! Again, 90% off! Neiman Marcus Last Call had this insane special where everything was 40% off, then 70% off, and another 30% off and if you used your Neiman card, another 5% off which made it 90% off! I still can’t get over it. How are they going to survive selling things for practically nothing? But I’m not complaining, I’m scooping them up as fast as I can!

    Well done, Tina.

    From another shoe snob!

  2. The pistola booties are so fabulous! Oh, how lucky are you?

  3. I am drooling over those Alaia ballet flats. I may have more flats than I could really wear but I’d want a pair right now.

  4. Alaia has been my addiction for over 25 years.. I wear his flats everyday. Right

now I am on way to Leather Spa on 55th street to re-sole a few pairs.

I am a size 7 so It is rare to find what I want on sale.. Enjoy yours!

Hi Tina-I love your shoe purchases. I wish I lived near a Neimans Last Call. Thanks for showing us the photos, they are fun to look at.

Flats hurt my instep. I think my feet are so used to being arched that when I wear flats they get sore quickly… But the Alaias are comfortable and don’t hurt as much!

Tina…this neimans last call sounds fabulous, you clearly have the right sized feet for sales!! Love love love the booties and Alai…..always wondered why you didnt do a shoe blog, you should post more about shoes on your couture, I could quite happily purchase bags and shoes and still never feel like I have enough!

I agree you should blog more about shoes on couturesnob if you don’t start a separate blog. There are quite a few of us here who are even bigger shoesnobs than bagsnobs (it’s so much easier to pile up on the shoes!)

  9. I would like to see The Shoe Closet Snob… all about adding

to your shoe closet.. What is a snob without her shoe closet?

    Any thoughts?
