Michelle Obama Necklace: Snob or Slob?

I am surprised to see the First Lady in this trendy multi chained necklace. It's not her usual simple style though I'll admit this rock and roll look is a nice departure from her usual pearls and diamond studs. A simple white cardigan sets off this necklace from Fenton (you can order it through Obama's friend's boutique, Ikram, where she buys all her clothes and baubles-- 312-587-1000.), a one-of-a-kind design with ropes of metal chains, rhinestones and vintage coins (way too busy for me but she makes it work). The designer of Fenton also has a lesser priced option called Fallon that you can order online directly. What do you think of Michelle's necklace? Snob or Slob?

  • SNOB. It goes well with her white ensemble. :)

  • love it!

  • SLOB. It looks cheap and tacky. Chains, rhinestones, and coins all mixed into one necklace? At least use CRYSTALS!!

  • SLOB...what the heck?

  • Slob, ugly and not appropriate for her age and position, did she borrow that thing from her daughter?

  • SNOB, she's so cutting edge.

  • SLOB-She and her husband have turned their positions into an Imperial Presidency. She has NO CLASS and isn't hesitant to spend money hand over fist at the expense of the US taxpayers.

    • I disagree. She does not buy haute couture, a la Nancy Reagan or Jackey Kennedy, but instead supports new, fresh, American designers. A lot of what she wears is easily affordable. Her tastes reflect the tastes of this country, and are unique to this country. High and low work together, if done right. She's keeping it real, and I like that about her.

  • I agree with sue...she makes some mistakes, but at least she keeps it fresh and not stiff!

  • i also agree with sue. i think the "imperial presidency" remark is really more about her husbands politics and is totally inappropriate here.
