I remember when safety pin as accessories (and body jewelry) was all the rage in the 80s. I was in high school but never got into the trend-- it just looked so trashy to have safety pins sticking out of your nose, ears and all over your clothes. Like all things 80's, however, the safety pin is back. I am on the fence about this dress from Moschino. The multi sized pins are strategically placed in a starburst pattern, drawing attention to and accentuating the waist which is really cool. But up close it looks like a pin cushion, would come in handy if one of my friends ripped their pants while out with me. Here, let me help you with that, take a safety pin from my dress and pull yourself together, no really, I don't need it, I have 500 of these suckers on me.
Moschino Safety Pin Dress $1,695 at Net-a-porter.com What do you think of safety pins as accessories? Snob or Slob?
i think it's really interesting, and it's very cool how they actually seem to be holding the fabric in different directions to create the cinched-in draped effect.
Looks lovely from the distance but won't they prick you when they get unhinged?

Snob in theory. However, a bit slobish in reality because it is way too centered. It would look better if it were more toward the side or at shoulder. But, I am totally going to steal this idea (love the starburst) to cinch in a men's cotton shirt.
PS Good luck getting through airport metal detectors.
Interesting but not good enough to click "place in cart"
I just tried this dress on in Bergdorf. It was poufy in the middle and made me look like I have a belly which I do not. For me, it's a thumbs down...
