Who Wore It Best: Miley Cyrus vs. Kim Cattrall

user-pic

KIM.jpg

I'm dying with anticipation for the Sex and the City movie sequel! Patricia Field never disappoints when it comes to the fashions. Above Miley Cyrus and Kim Cattrall are pictured on-set in identical Matthew Williamson mini dresses and nOir jewelry (love nOir! They have the most fun, affordable cocktail rings). Field collaborated with Leeora Catalan, designer and founder of nOir Jewelry, for the pieces that both stars sported on the faux red carpet (all products will be available for purchase on noirjewelry.com upon the film's release).

Who do you think rocked this over-the-top look best? Miley Cyrus or Kim Cattrall?

Louboutin Dos and Don't

I am not so blindly obsessed with Louboutin shoes that I can't discern atrocities from beauties!  There are a couple of pairs that I'm dying for right now (above) and a couple that I think everyone should stay away from.  From above left: The platform bootie is a must have staple ($995), I tried these on and they are fairly comfortable (as comfy as a pair of 5 inch platforms can be!)-- they will also transition through resort/spring/summer which is a definite plus!  I am insane about the over the knee leather boots as well.  When you put them on they're like leather leggings!  You almost don't need to wear pants but they're not actually pants so to keep you bum warm-- a skirt, a pair of shorts or skinny jeans are highly recommended.

Now for the don'ts-- I love an espadrille as much as anyone but why the chain and patent leather(below left)?  Espadrilles are casual and fun, trying to make them edgy just makes them look stupid, out of place and trying too hard.   What do you think?

Kristen Stewart in Rock & Republic Pumps

user-pic

A few weeks ago Kristen Stewart paired her drool-inducing Valentino dress with a pair of grey Rock & Republic Nika pumps ($295) when she attended the VMAs. While I do like these shoes and I still like studs, I'm through with spending money on this trend. I am however super excited that R&R just launched their shoe line. The prices are pretty great and I'm dying to get my hands on the Stiletto "Plain Wrap" Pumps ($198), but as of now they're sold-out everywhere in my size...err! They've also got some hot boots and cut-out styles. Plus if you sign-up for their newsletter they'll send you a coupon for 10% off. What do you think about Rock & Republic's shoe line debut?

Frugal Snob: Wolford Colorado Turtleneck vs. Capezio

user-pic

wolfordturtleneck.jpgcapezioturtleneck.jpg
Not sure what to wear under all the fab leather jackets this winter? I like a fitted turtleneck-- no fuss and so sleek. I found an amazing one from Wolford in black ($245) and have been wearing it often but can't justify multiple colors at this price! So I went to a dance store and picked up very similar versions from Capezio for $19! At that price I got Nude, White and Navy. I even got a full body suit (so 80s!) to wear with thigh high boots and blazers. The Wolford feels better but it stretches and is not as snug as the Capezio. And seriously, the difference ($245 vs. $19) is so huge it's not really a fair comparison but it looks exactly the same and both are a nylon/spandex blend. With the money I've saved I'm splurging on a pair of full length thigh high boots! Wolford Colorado Turtleneck here

And Capezio turtleneck leotard here. What do you think, which would you choose?

We can all sleep now, Lindsay was not paid for her work at Ungaro

user-pic

lindsayloungaro.jpglindsayungaro1.jpg
According to Tyler Durden, Lindsay Lohan was not only offering her services free of charge to Ungaro-- she even had to fly herself to Paris for the show and pay all of her expenses. They wouldn't give her a dime but gave her a few outfits to wear (why not? more free pr!). Ungaro has since fired Lindsay (can you fire free labor even if it's crappy?) but got their PR mileage out of this! Read WWTDD here.

Krysten Ritter in Rebecca Minkoff

user-pic

Krysten Ritter.jpg

It's no secret that I'm head-over-heels obsessed with Rebecca Minkoff's apparel line. In terms of contemporary fashions, I think that there are very few lines that can compare to her sexy, yet simple and elegant designs. On the left Krysten Ritter is pictured in Rebecca Minkoff's Frankie zip front top Persimmon Combo with black leather ($295 -- get it at Confederacy, 323 913-3040 ). It has a similar cut to the brand's Morning After Dress (and there's actually another similar version that will be an exclusive on Shopbop.com for Holiday that will be called the Morning After Top Silk Multi Flower Print. It will also retail for $295 and have a similar cut, but no leather). Ritter rocks the look, but I do wish she had opted to wear her hair up; it would have given her look a more refined feel.

What do you think about Ritter's Minkoff outfit?

Rebecca Gayheart in Fifteen-Twenty

user-pic

Screen shot 2009-10-20 at 9.27.23 PM.png

I had no idea Rebecca Gayheart was pregnant!  I mean wasn't she just in some nude threesome scandal?  Maybe the baby will shape up her lifestyle (DUIs and scandals)-- kids will do that to you and I'm very hopeful for her.  She was spotted out and about sporting a printed Fifteen-Twenty top recently and looked casual and chic with ballet flats and a fedora.  This is an easy and cute look for pregnant woman, a stylish t-shirt can be slimming, especially in black and white.  See a similar Fifteen-Twenty top here.

Spotlight On Karolina Zmarlak

user-pic

Oviedo Jacket Lugo Pant3.JPGOviedo Jacket Lugo Pant2.JPGGranada Dress Power Pant3.JPG

Karolina Zmarlak is one of NYC's hottest up-and-coming designers. In just a few short seasons she has won the Gen Art's Styles 2005 styles award in the Eveningwear Category, has lead design direction on various projects in New York, Delhi, Paris and London, and has presented her ready-to-wear collection to influencers including Fern Mallis, Amanda Hearst, and Alexis Bryan Morgan. Zmarlak is truly a genius in the way she manipulates the fabrics she works with. Her pieces are versatile -- each piece is reversible, designed to bind and tighten, and wrap or cocoon over the body. Literally you could wear any one of the designer's pieces in an endless array of ways. With so many of us looking to tighten our spending, Zmarlak's pieces strike me as a great investment (you can buy one piece, wear it three different ways and no one will know you're wearing the same outfit multiple times!). Check-out Karolina Zmarlak's collection on her website or at Takashimaya, Debut, and Eva or stop by Eva on October 29 when the designner previews her S/S 2010 collection. Invite after the jump!
