The only velvet garments I ever really liked were Tom Ford-era Gucci and YSL pieces (anyone else remember Julianne Moore rocking that YSL velvet suit circa 2001!?). Velvet is definitely having a huge comeback though and proof is celebs hitting the street and red carpet in velvet everything (shoes, evening-wear, cocktail dresses, tops, harem pants…you name it). I’m still not convinced that this is a trend that I’d like to be pulling-off. Am I the only one who thinks there’s something medieval, I’m-wearing-my-parents-curtains about most velvet garments? The only things I could think of wanting in velvet would be a fitted blazer or a loose-hanging vest, but a full-on dress a la Milla Jovovich, no thank you!
