I couldn’t think of a more exciting way to start my week than by attending the Oscar de la Renta Pre-Fall 2010 show (thank you Tina and Kelly!). From the moment the first model took to the runway it was clear that ODLR was inspired by Russia for his collection. Each of the models had hair that was styled high, cat-eyes, they were wearing a ton of embroidery, there was fur (including some in a Barbie-esque pink!), and a number of red-heavy patterns. While it goes without saying that the floor-length pieces were stunning (I could totally see Penelope Cruz in the two gowns below!), what I loved most about the collection were the fur-trimmed and embroidered cardigans, the glimmering cocktail dresses — too bad they won’t hit till May, some of them would have made perfect New Year’s Eve frocks! — and the cocoon-like outerwear. Who says ODLR isn’t for the young? There’s no doubt this collection had a little something for everyone:-)
