Malandrino Spring/Summer 2011
By Couture Snob Kelly
September 12, 2010

The presentation was brilliant, set outdoors around the reflecting pool (although the threat of rain would have been bad) but the crowd control was chaotic to say the least. Even though it was blocked off, everyone was able to see the presentation which was very democratic so that made up for some of the frustration. The jewelry and shoes were actually more interesting (which I will cover separately on those respective sites). The fabrication was what caught my attention – macrame, knits and cotton gauze. These were used together to give a soft and hard feel but but by itself had more impact, like the macrame tunic over macrame one piece bathing suit and the long ivory crochet dress. The prints were bold and serene at the same time – inspired by the ocean and raspberry. It’s not for me but I’m not really sure who it would really be for.
