New label Mother has just blown all other seventies-influenced denim brands out of the water. MiH, Textile Elizabeth and James, and J.Brand flares don’t have the perfectly high-waisted and not-too-belled allure of Mother’s slightly washed-out “Forever Blue” rinse, the perfect style and shade of denim for summer. A lightweight stretch keeps everything snug, while side welt pockets ensure no unflattering bunch-ups (too much pocket fabric is the worst!). These are the best retro jeans ever! Add a pair of cork wedge platforms, and I’ll feel like I’m John Travolta’s girlfriend on “Welcome Back, Kotter.” Looks like I’m going to have a super seventies summer! On Net-a-Porter for $220.
