When it comes to dresses, I know enough not to experiment too much. I stick with a few trusty names, the ones that deliver mile-high timeless style and flawlessly flattering fits – Alaïa, Alexander McQueen, Roland Mouret, and now Antonio Berardi has been inducted into the winner’s circle.
I have been longing for this fuchsia-pink dress since the start of the season. Now that it’s on sale, my friend Sasha Charnin says I must go for it. Now far be it from me to argue with one of the most highly regarded fashion editors in the business! And I’m certainly not going to argue with the impeccability of this cotton-crepe dress. The femme hourglass shape is highlight by a fitted bodice, for an extra-narrow waist, and a box-pleated skirt. And the color is more practical than it looks – hot pink is a neutral in my closet. I wear it with everything! All in all, the construction – and color – of Beradi’s dresses is pure Italian perfection. On Net-a-Porter for $927 (from $1,545).
Pair with: Going for the bold? You’d be surprised how good a bright red lip can look with a hot pink dress. The key is to choose one that’s blue-, not orange-based, to avoid an accidentally clashing effect (on-purpose clashing is just fine). Choose a classic red that works for you, like Dior‘s Rouge Dior ($30) or Chanel‘s Rouge Allure ($32).
