Tory Burch has come a long way since her logo-adorned ballet flats. While her name used to connote a mere brand, she now exudes a true designer. Her Spring collection is innovative, beautiful, and there is nary a logo in sight. Loose tank dresses of silk and chiffon, beaded to shimmery perfection, and layers of beads speak of a young, vacationing Coco Chanel. Appealing to the ladies who lunch, deconstructed tweed jackets also give reference to Chanel.

The clothes suggest the uptown ingénue. Especially paired with a surprising array of flats. Standing out from the be-bowed kitten heel pumps was something very sporty: Tory took old-fashioned golf shoes and opened up the toe for a clever new sandal.

Even more intriguing, she has made me rethink raffia by completely dissecting, then putting it back together again in her own style. On jackets and hemlines, she shredded it for a fringe-like effect. Bags exploded with the material for a pom-pom-esque flourish. Polka-dot-printed, appliquéd, and embellished raffia all looked fresh and foreign on sweaters, dresses, and lengthy skirts.

Looks like Tory’s found her calling in roughing up and re-refining the classics. Three cheers for the preppy glamour puss!
