Classic. Effortless. Impossibly chic. And don’t forget impeccably tailored! Few new labels deserve such description, but Holmes & Yang is not your average label. Launched in 2009 by Katie Holmes and her stylist, Jeanne Yang, this line shows wisdom beyond its few years. And after taking in their Spring/Summer 2012 collection, I am more enthusiastic about the duo than ever!
The staples every woman should have in her closet, from the accentuated trench coat to the ruffled ball gown (yes, we should all have one!) to the crisp yet softly wearable blazer to the silk tee, have been conceived with luxuriant finesse. These clothes are about real life with a pleasing dosage of glamour – because as real as it gets, a splash of hot-pink lace or a few tiers of ruffles will never hurt your cause. The white slouch suit, of a double-breasted blazer and Bermuda-length shorts, is sure to be seriously trend-worthy for fall, while spring tweed is delightful, via a kaleidoscope-colored trench. And the accessories, like skinny belts and must-have bags? A collaboration with Valextra, these fine leather finishers put the looks over the edge! I can’t wait for spring – and these timeless pieces to make their way into my closet.
