Victoria Beckham Fall 2012 Collection: No Small Victory

I was the date of a seven-year-old for his school’s Valentine’s Day decorating party and didn’t arrive in NYC until late Saturday afternoon. The timing worked out: I don’t think there’s any better way to kick off Fashion Week than with the Victoria Beckham show. Again, she went for the small, intimate venue of the New York Public Library. Husband David was in attendance, seated next to Anna Wintour. But no one really noticed. We were all so captivated by the stellar collection.

For Fall 2012, Victoria said she wanted to get out of her comfort zone and try something different. What she created was the wardrobe that every woman should have….make that, the wardrobe every woman NEEDS. Sporty stripes and military details lend effortless appeal to fitted dresses that don’t confine. With a delicious simplicity – and smart complexity – they just lightly hug your curves. Many with swing reminiscent of flippy tennis skirts, many with collars, edged up in leather and crocodile. Topped with oversized bags and clutches, along with Stephen Jones-designed hats, it was her best effort to date. As Victoria said, “I can’t wait to wear everything” – and neither can I!
