Are Peter Pan collars to cutesy (read: young) for me? While this is likely the sad case, I can’t help but love them. Especially combined with charming flounce and a mini-length, like the Kimberly dress ($548) from Kate Spade. Accented with jewels and a keyhole, it’s too sweet for words, but I worry that I’ll be dressed like a five-year-old with a 40-yea-old face. Maybe I’ll take it down a notch and spring for Garance Dore’s version ($248). It’s less sugary with a French-graffiti print and fitted T-shirt silhouette. But perhaps the wisest way for those of use over 35 to execute a rounded collar is with one that functions more like a piece of jewelry. Karl‘s Abbey collars ($115), equally appealing in black and white
faux pearls, beads, and cotton-poplin, put forth that Peter Pan effect without making you look like you’re stranded in Never Never Land.
