Wouldn’t it be nice to step off a plane and hear that you’ve been nominated for an Oscar? Or how about winning the Golden Globes (called it as soon as I watched the premiere of Zero Dark Thirty)? Just another day in the life for transparent coat-clad Jessica Chastain. I honestly haven’t decided how I feel about this look. It’s kind of like wearing a rain poncho (you know those kind they sell at Disney World for $15?) rather than a trench, but I have to say that the cut is so perfect and the way she cinches it in is very flattering. So kudos to Jessica for grabbing our attention without even a hint of color! With that gorgeous red hair, I guess she doesn’t need it. To steal the look, start off with some basic blacks – Rag & Bone’s skinny legging jeans (at Barneys New York for $188) and T by Alexander Wang’s semi V-neck (at Barneys New York for $80) are a nice mix of fitted and loose. If you’re planning on flying, do it in style our starlet’s Louie luggage (at Louis Vuitton for $2,680). Picking a sizable handbag for a journey is just as important, so a roomy hobo like Marc by Marc Jacobs’s Classic Q Hillier (on Net-a-Porter for $428) will serve you well. And of course, the finishing touch! Valentino has a clear PVC trench coat that will mimic Jessica’s with just a little more attitude courtesy of pale pink leather accents and rockstuds. Much like the Disney ponchos, this is about ten times more expensive than it should be, but they’re aren’t many Casper-clear coats out there so if you want to bare it all, you’ve got to belly up. Pre-order it just in time for April showers! On Luisa via Roma for $10,106.
