As much as I love Julia Roberts' understated style, I was a bit disappointed by her red carpet pick for Tuesday night's "Eat Pray Love" premiere. While I can appreciate her choice to mix it up--Stella McCartney tuxedo jacket

Diane von Furstenberg shorts, Roger Vivier sandals--what faltered ultimately was the choice of going with all black. It was just plain boring with a capital B. The sandals are chic; the rest of the outfit? There's nothing wrong with any component of her ensemble; I just wouldn't have recommended that for a red carpet. This is a look for going out with the girls for dinner or to a cocktail party. Not for your world premiere/reemergence! At least Julia had some common sense to fall back on her favorite Me & Ro jewelry and go with some colorful bracelets and earrings. They added a glimmer of hope to an otherwise sad and inappropriate outfit.

Look, I've been there. After many sleepless nights with my son when he was teething, sick, or general fussiness-- I can't focus to dress myself either. Which is why I spent the first 6 months after giving birth at home, in my pajamas. Seriously, I didn't go out for a very very long time. Why you ask? Just look at this photo of new mom Amanda Peet. Need I say more? I don't know if she's got a burp cloth on or if the apron is the new skirt over jeans but whatever it is, she should have just stayed home.

In this week's US magazine, we had to comment on the sad outfits of celebs such as Debi Mazar, Billy Ray Cyrus and this Sophie Monk girl above, We have no idea who she is but we had much to say!  As for Billy Ray--he is the poster boy for the Man Bra- the Bro.  Go play Fashion Cop on Usmag's website!

In case you did not know, Kelly and I are Top Cops for US Weekly and if you have not seen our rantings on the back pages, run to your local grocery store and grab a copy!  We are in the mag every other week.  Anywho, one of the celebs we were asked to comment on this week was Mariah Carey.  Let me just be honest here and admit that I am a dork and have cried listening to her sappy love songs (yes, Kelly makes fun of me all the time but I don't care, I love Mariah's voice!).  Her fashion choices, however, pain me to no end.  Why she must dress like a 12 year old is beyond me.  I know she says she has the mentality of a junior high schooler but must she continue to dress like one, day after day?  She can save this look by untying the shirt, a longer top with a short mini is much more in proportion though I don't know if a rainbow hued mini is ever appropriate once you've graduated high school.
