Three Blondes New York

user-pic

Two of my friends, Summer Rej and Jennifer Meyers, launched their on jewelry, glove, and hair accessories line recently and it has already been featured in the fashion bible, Vogue (well, online at least:-) ). It's called Three Blondes New York and it's currently available at Clyde's on Madison in NYC as well as online. The line is super-feminine with lots of pink, gold, and glitz (their launch party was an Alice and Wonderland themed tea party!), and the pieces have a distinctive old-world charm (think antique lace gloves). Summer and Jennifer have dabbled in fashion for years -- before going off to college they started a line of tees that featured sassy statement like, "I summer in the Hamptons," "Debutante Striptease," and "Ladies who Lunch," that became popular in young UES circles (on a side note when she was still in High School Summer came-up with a color for a Chanel polish, Tickled Pink, that was actually put into production!). The Three Blondes New York offerings are pretty wide and obviously I'm biased because I know the designers, but if you're looking for an under $100 gift for a girly-girl, I would recommend checking the pieces out!

Feather Headbands: Snob or Slob?

user-pic
featherheadbands.jpg We will try anything once, even stick feathers in our hair for the sake of fashion (apparently celebs will do the same for publicity). The Feather Light Brigade (headband), worn by Carmen Electra, Khloe Kardashian, Kat Deluna, and Aubrey O'Day, is sold exclusively at Owl's Lab and designed by Danny Masterson's sister Alanna Masterson. It's not the most flattering accessory I've ever seen but that's due to the way these girls are wearing it.  I think the headband looks best on the head and not across the forehead like a giant face mask.  This is definitely a look for the fashion adventuress who loves attention-- some of the colors are borderline Pocahontas clownish and not something I can pull off.  $100 at Owl's Lab.

What do you think of the feather headband trend?  Snob or Slob?

Paige Gamble Headpieces

user-pic

paigegambleheadpiece.jpgI love quirky accessories, sometimes it's all you need to spice up an old outfit! Like these Floral headpieces from Paige Gamble made of exotic skin-- it's both funky and luxurious! I wore this headpiece in metallic python everywhere over Fashion Week and was stopped constantly by chic young girls who wanted to snatch it off my head. The headpiece is made of Smoke glazed anaconda skin with hand-pressed slate python gardenias. These flowers are cut, pressed, and crafted by a third generation flower-maker in New York. The craftsmanship and details are amazing! If you're sick of your hair or clothes, put one of these babies on and see yourself instantly transformed! This is a favorite of Gossip Girls and other hip young girls. The 1cm band is ultra comfortable so you won't get that "headband" headache that accompanies almost all headbands. $450 at Paige Gamble here.

Look of the Week: High Low Studding

user-pic
headbandstuds.jpgAnyone who grew up in the 80's will remember the stacks of studded bracelets worn by punk rockers such as Adam Ant and Sid Vicious but it was made mainstream popular by Madonna. As a 13 year old in 1983, I was right in the midst of the trend. I wore studded belts with everything and tried to bedazzle studs in almost everything I owned. Now that I'm pushing 40, it's my last chance to re-live my youth without looking ridiculous! I'm obsessed with my Hermes Medor belts and have 3 different colors. I wear them with dresses, coats, jackets, whatever I can think of. I also have the Medor clutch in gray and a Medor bracelet in red-- I never wear these Medor pieces together because it is just too much! But now Hermes has tiny little Medor accessories that I can put on any kind of scarf or small leather strap and wear with my Medor stuff.

These little Medor pieces ($170) are not as pricey as the belt or bracelet so it's a great way for you frugal snobs to get the look without the cost. I put mine on a twilly scarf but just tried it on a black bandana and it looks snobulous! Play around with it to find your personal favorite but I love it as a headband or as a bracelet. I added a black studded strap wrap around bracelet from Forever 21 ($2.80) and my friends went nuts over the combo (who knew Hermes and Forever 21 would look so great together!?!?). They of course thought I spent a fortune but you guys know I love mixing high low! The little bracelets from Forever 21 come in blue, pink, white and brown with bronze studs (I got one in each color-- how could I not when it is only $2.80!?!?)  The bracelet below is the same scarf and hardware I had on my head earlier in the day, I took it off at lunch and wrapped it around my wrist and created a whole new look.   studbracelets.jpg
