Beyonce Street Style: Snob or Slob?

beyoncesnoborslob0502.jpg
Oh my, head to toe in the latest trends does not a fashionista make. Or does it? Check out Beyonce in distressed denim trend from J Brand worn with a burnout distressed tank, YSL cage shoes and a Valentino bag. I like them all individually, but thrown together it feels a tad too busy. What do you think? Snob or Slob?

Prvcy Premium Jeans supports The Cure and your backside

prvcybacksidejeans.jpg I am obsessed with Prvcy Premium jeans, the strategically placed pockets are so flattering to the bum that everyone looks like they have the backside of a 16 year old!  But that's not all that's great about the signature Life Line pocket design representing FAITH, HOPE and LOVE, it is a symbol of the company's continued fight to find a cure for Breast Cancer (I like the white stitched pockets best). PRVCY donates up to 10% of all sales to various Breast Cancer Organizations year round.  Now if that's not a good excuse to grab a pair of these jeans I don't know what is.  The secret in the perfect fit is also in the blend of cotton(72%) and elasterlle (28%), they're super forgiving even if you've indulged in one too many lattes.  Get your PRVCY Premium jeans here!

Frugal Snob: DIY Distressed Jeans

currentelliottdistressedskinny.jpgLove the look of distressed denim but not the price?  If you're like me and have dozens of pairs of jeans that you never wear, grab a pair that still fits and distress them yourself!  Why pay $228 for a pair of Current/Elliott The Skinny Jeans when you can make your own for practically free!? This is also a great party idea-- invite a group of girlfriends and tell them all to bring a pair of jeans they want to distress-- pour a few glasses of bubbly and it's a DIY Denim party!

1. Plan before you distress: With your jeans on, mark the areas you want to distress with a pencil

2. Prepare proper tools:
Cheese Grater-- gives the roughest texture
Sandpaper-- has a slightly less worn look
Nail File- around hem and pocket areas

3. Protect your work: Put some fabric seam glue around each hole so they won't grow bigger (this happened to me in the 80's, I cut holes in my jeans and they grew so big my 'cheeks' fell out and I had to stop wearing them!).

4. Gentle Detergent: Wash the jeans inside out with a gentle detergent. I like Dreft baby detergent!

7 for All mankind Petite White Jeans

Seven_PetiteBootCutJeans.jpg7-white-jeans.jpg

I have been obsessed with white jeans since I was very young.  Each summer I add a pair or two to the collection and give away the ones that no longer fit or interest me. This year I bought the 7 for All mankind petite white jeans.  It is made for a petite figure and it has the low 7 signature pockets so your bum doesn't look huge.  I am a 30" inseam though I'm only 5' tall (I wear really high heels with my jeans!) but most jeans come with a 36" inseam. They never look quite right after shortening them, even when my tailor uses the original hem technique-- the proportions just don't work when you lop off 6 inches from the bottom of your flared jeans.  Finally, a pair of petite jeans actually looks good!  It's also really nice to buy jeans and be able to wear them right away without a trip to the tailor!  See 7 For All Mankind Petite Boot Cut Jean here.

The Best Boyfriend Jeans under $60: Vigoss Rigid

bp_boyfriend_jeans.jpgMy girlfriend has been on the hunt for boyfriend jeans that fit well and didn't cost in the 3 digits. She tried everything from Current Elliot to Joe's but none fit her and she really didn't want to shell out $200+ for a pair of knock around jeans (do ya blame her?). She finally ended up at Nordstrom the other day and found the perfect pair for $59!

I turned my nose up at first because I have not shopped at Brass Plum since I was in college plus I am a total denim snob but I had to see for myself. I went over to the BP and tried them on and was shocked to find out I loved them! The difference is they are a bit rigid with just the right amount of slouch so they are more flattering than the super baggy ones (hard to pull off if you're not under 25 years old and/or less than 100 pounds).

And really, for $59!?!?!  This is a no brainer!  Vigoss Rigid Boyfriend Jeans At Nordstrom Brass Plum.

Snob look of the week: Cameron Diaz in Michael Kors

cameron_diaz_snob_of_week.jpgIt's not every girl who can strike the balance of youth and style but Cameron Diaz hits it perfectly at the Kids' Choice awards this weekend! She shows us how a 36 year old can be fun and flirty without looking ridiculous (you know who you are). Her pleated navy and red polka dotted tank top from Michael Kors with cinched white belt is adorable and perfect for the occasion. I am loving the skinny 7 Skinny Jeans she threw on with it (she knows how to show off those mile long legs!) and of course the bright red clutch pulls it all together (it's always the bag that does it). And those shoes, the candy striped platform shoes are sick!  I must have those shoes!

What do you think?

I've noticed Cameron has been wearing MK all year long.  I don't really blame her, it's all about Michael Kors for me this season, too.  The dresses Michael picked out for me when we filmed are finally here and I'll be wearing them everywhere! The red and white checked version even comes with a red patent belt.

Distressed jeans dissected from $59-$418

Prps Daytona Boot Cut JeansPrps Barracuda Boyfriend Jeans

I spent the weekend testing out distressed jeans from American Eagle Outfitters to Jet Thrasher priced from $59-$418.  I've bought my share of expensive jeans but how much is too much?  I have to admit these Prps Daytona Boot Cut Jeans are not only smoking hot, they make the butt perky and the legs long but still, $418?!?!   The Prps Barracuda Boyfriend Jeans  are not as flattering but just as outrageously expensive. I'm sorry, no pair of jeans is ever worth this much money!   I ended up buying nothing; went home and found an old pair of distressed 7 jeans that I've had for 5 years.  Half of the rips are from natural wear which just makes them even more fabulous.  What about you-- have you bought a pair of distressed jeans this past year or did you pull out old jeans like me?

UPDATE: Congrats to kaitlin! Please check your emails for instructions!

cuffedjeans.jpg
Cuffed jeans are making a comeback again!  Seen on celebs such as Lauren Conrad -- a stick thin 20 year old who can pretty much wear anything and look great-- but should you Cuff or Not?  Lauren is rocking PRVCY jeans in Dark Magnolia wash with classic orange threading, the Premium London skinny jeans ($175) exhibit a polished denim fold which is most slimming.

Eva Longoria
likes to change things up in her PRVCY jeans and altered the length throughout the day. She is much more petite than Lauren but carries off the cuffed look well because of her slim legs. This is not a look for the full figured woman!

Who do you think looks better? Lauren Conrad or Eva Longoria? Tell us your answer in comments and we'll choose a random winner on Sunday, 2/8 at midnight EST who will win a pair of PRVCY jeans in her size!

Thank you to PRVCY for this generous giveaway!  Check PRVCY website for more style!

J Brand Green Label

JbrdLoveSToryWood1.jpgkatieholmes_jbrand.pngmichellewilliams_jbrand.png

It is no surprise that celebrities are choosing organic cotton denim but these J Brand jeans are super HOT so they are in no way compromising on style (we didn't think they would!). Both Katie Holmes and Michelle Williams are seen here in the Love Story cut in the dark Woodstock wash. These jeans are made for real women with real curves, which we love. It has a lightweight stretch to perfectly hug your bottom and give lift. They are bell bottom with a wide cuff so are made for boots and mile high platforms. They are made from 100% organic cotton, completely free of pesticides, even the cotton lining in the pockets fully comply. Not that that really matters for the jeans but it matters for the environment! Get them at Coco's Shoppe for $227. Use code "SNOB" for 30% off!! That makes these jeans $158.90, which means I am ordering mine right now!!

Shades of Grey: Black Orchid Jeans

greyjeans.jpg
Grey denim is a must-have this season and Jessica Alba, Halle Berry and Selena Gomez are all crazy about Black Orchid jeans. While Jessica and Selena opt for a light grey wash, Halle's slightly darker skinny jeans create this casually sophisticated look. Black Orchid jeans are also $98.00 or less- which seems like a bargain compared to the $200-$300 jeans popular of late. I am obsessed with these skinny grey jeans, pair it with a pale pink cashmere sweater and I'm back to the '80s! But my favorite look is Jessica Alba in her super cool grey leather trench.
