Chain me up and tie me down! J. Crew Jewels Rock!

jcrewchainsribbon.jpgIt's not hard to see the appeal of J. Crew jewels. Sexy, chic and affordable, what's not to like? My friend Kim wore a gorgeous mint colored necklace (below left) at her Easter party and I thought for sure it was Kenneth Jay Lane but she smiled and said "J. Crew!".

What?  I usually go to J. Crew for flip flops and summer tees, not for jewels!  And the best part is, most pieces are around $100 but look like they cost hundreds more.

There are so many pieces I want but the multi gold chain is the must have.  Throw on this disco fab necklace with a simple LBD or a white tee with black skinny jeans and you'll be the most stylish chick at the party.  Gold chains and ribbon Necklace $99 at J.crew.com

If you're a classic girl, you'll love the enamel necklaces below-- they look amazing with summer shift dresses or a plain white shirt with white pants.  Made of handset enamel stones-- $150-$175.

Frugal Snob- Make a Statement with bold Jewelry

Guest blog by Julia DiNardo -- the founder/editor of Fashion Pulse
We noticed that the Fall 2009 runways were rife with over-the-top, oversized necklaces, earrings, and bracelets. Necklaces, in the form of layered chokers and bib styles were most popular, yet other forms of jewelry held their ground.  We particularly loved the jewelry from Elie Saab (necklaces), Andrew Gn (earrings), Camilla Staerk (broach), Reem Acra (necklaces), Blumarine (bracelets), Vera Wang (necklaces), Christian Siriano (earrings), and Oscar de la Renta (necklaces).

Especially prevalent on the runways were the stunning designs by Subversive Jewelry, seen at the Rachel Roy. J.Mendel, and Trovata shows.  To truly appreciate these stand-out pieces, consider how effortless they make getting dressed, adding style to the most basic of basics! Just think of how the perfect necklace can spice-up an oh so classic, yet oh so boring white oxford button-up!   We've picked some really fabulous budget-friendly options to help you get the oversized, statement jewelry look. Let's start with the bracelets: our favorite options were bulky, angular, and without a ton of ornamentation, such as the Tux Bracelet by Nicole Romano, $120, both at Vivre.com.

I love this Stella McCartney Silk blend bandage dress but it needs to be merchandised with a bit of bling.  Not over accessorizing but just a few details that will take it from simple to glamorous!  The copper geometric cuff from Missoni sets off the pinkness of the dress fabulously not to mention it's an inexpensive way to jewel up the dress.  The short sleeves of the dress will leave most of your arms bare which means the cuff will really stand out. Jump to see how to make this outfit even more eclectic!

Provocative Pearls from Slane and Slane

sspearls.jpg
Who knew pearls could be so sexy!?!? The days of maxi minis, sky-high heels and cleavage baring tops are no longer what the most fashionable deem sexy. A draping of a pearl necklace down the back, a long dangling chandelier earring, or multi length necklaces layered along the neckline can all be as seductive. Pearls have forever had a feminine allure and charm. Often symbolized as unblemished perfection representing purity, pearls are unmistakably the universal gems for all women. Pearls can dry up when not worn; they need the oils from the body's skin in order to retain their luster and salacious brilliance. Withstanding years of tradition and elegance pearls have sustained their stature as a staple luxurious and sexy accessory to be worn in any era. At Slane and Slane Tassle: $1,230, 5 Strand: $850, 3 Strand: $620

I'm officially obsessed with By Malene Birger's bead necklaces! They're so fun and perfect to spice-up a plain tee or blouse. I'm always big on bold or stacked jewelry and I have a feeling that given all the attention Eva Mendes' vintage turquoise necklace has gotten (as it should -- though I wasn't a fan of her Dior dress I loved her statesmen necklace!), turquoise will once again be all over the place especially come spring. Perfect excuse to get the By Malene Birger Bobly bead necklace ($230) if you ask me:) Her Multicolored bead necklace ($295) is also a lot of fun. They're not nearly as heavy or hard to pull-off as they look (especially the turquoise one). For those whose interest is peaked, the designer also has a line of clothing -- click here to check it out!

House of Harlow: Snob or Slob?

Nicole Richie adds jewelry designer to her current resume as tabloid fodder and Paris Hilton's best friend. The new jewelry line is inspired by her daughter, Harlow, who's name was inspired by iconic Hollywood icon, Jean. I have to hand it to Nicole for being way smarter than any other skinny famous for nothing girl. Why sell other people's stuff in US magazine when you can wear your own designs and promote yourself? Check out her goodies at www.singer22.com Prices range from $32-$170. None of it is exciting enough to make me whip out my wallet but for a first attempt-- not bad. The black resin necklace is interesting and the black/gold leather bangle is simple and cute. What do you think? Snob or Slob?

Me&Ro Chakra Flower Necklace

me&ro_chakranecklace.jpgme&ro_chakranecklace_close.png

This necklace is not only beautiful and chic but it is good for the mind and spirit. This disc charms are engraved with the lotus flower and the symbol for the Sahasrara Chakra, which is at the crown of the head, is the center for self realization and enlightenment. Wear this when you're having a bad day, need some enlightenment or to just match and accessorize an outfit =) I love wearing personal jewelry, actually most jewelry I wear has great significance to me. It makes me feel in touch with some part of my life and although it is an ornament, it is also comforting. And what better than jewelry that is beautiful and meaningful? The discs are sterling silver and the chain measures 45.5" inches. It is handcrafted in New York City for $880 at eluxury.
