Are ponchos making a comeback? Please say it's true! This uber luxurious cashmere poncho is as cozy as a snookie but hello, this is a bazillion times more chic and it's not only acceptable to wear out, you will look fabulous! I know it's hot now but think about wind sheer and frost, and now think about how amazing you will feel wrapping this around you! I always bring a blanket on the plane with me (plane blankets are ewww and useless) but this would be the ultimate!!! I bet Donna has this in her carry on =) At Saks Fifth Avenueicon for $1495.

Stay warm and sparkle bright in Portolano: 25% off!

user-pic
tolanogloves.jpgportolano.jpg
You'd think I'm living in Colorado with the dry and bone chilling weather we've been having here lately. I've resorted to working while wrapped in my old Moncler ski jacket (at my desk) and a favorite old and tattered scarf but when I go out, I want something more exciting than boring scarves and gloves to brave the cold in! The adorable sparklers from Portolano above are just what I need to perk up the dreary winter days. I don't know about you but a vision of white cashmere just makes me feel elegant and chic.  More practical snobs can opt for the same styles in black or heather gray.  All Portolano 100% cashmere knits are 25% off right now, I'm getting one of each ;)  Go here to shop!

Gray Matters

user-pic

grey matters.jpg
I have had a gray obsession for years. It's a softer alternative to black and is always so chic and pretty.  I especially love wearing tonal gray shades together; it gives your outfit depth and keeps it from looking blah or depressing cuz let's face it, gray is not the most cheerful of shades!  Gray is sophisticated with silver jewels but with gold it is stunning and unexpected.  To add a bit of gray to your wardrobe, I found a few of my favorite grays of the season.  Starting clockwise from the left:
Dacute Light shearling jacket $1295

Rebecca Taylor The Socialite satin dress $295

Preen Line Asymmetric cotton trench $690

Lee Angel Serena glass-pearl necklace $285

Pringle of Scotland Rabbit-trim cashmere scarf $1350

Adam Woven jersey sweater $275

7 for all mankind Roxanne corduroy skinny jeans $180

Milly Jersey long-sleeved dress $395

Brian Atwood New Davis suede boots $1475

3.1 Phillip Lim Silk eyelet-embellished dress $525

Juicy Couture Sequin-embellished sweater $200

Trend: Paisley

user-pic

paisely.JPG

I've never been much of a paisley fan, mostly because I like my patterns simple and in moderation (except when it comes to Pucci!), but Paisley keeps popping-up. I thought the trend would go away with the end of summer, but surprisingly there are a bunch of paisley-flecked pieces in a number of fall 2009 collections (Anna Sui, Marc Jacobs...). For those looking to get in on the trend, hurry-up days are running out for you to buy paisley on sale!

Hello Fall!! ...and Fall's favorite accessory!

user-pic

Ahhh!! Fall has begun, and I am anxiously awaiting the first autumn breeze (here in Southern California, we wait longer than most)! These six scarves are some of my favorites this season, and I have already begun daydreaming of what they will look like draped around my favorite Fall sweaters and jackets

scarvesforfall.jpg

  • The cashmere, rainbow Missoni is my absolute favorite, so cute and cuddly! It would make a great present for someone who was going back to school (mom... if you're reading this -hint-!).
  • The black and gray striped Missoni is made of a wool/mohair/polyamide blend, and has a looped trim, giving it a very unique look that would be a great compliment to a well fitted jacket.
  •  I am very excited to see that Gucci was right on top of the frayed, shawl look that has been so popular recently. If you were looking to add one to your wardrobe, this is a good bet. Since the dimensions allow you to wear it more than one way, it won't be out of style by the time it ships to you have warn it twice! (also available in Black)
  •  Matta is a brand I only stumbled upon recently, and I was delighted to discover! The Nilam scarf comes in three colors, and with a very reasonable price tag. With such a casual and feminine look, you could dress up jeans and a sweater or dress down a large winter coat.
  • Everyone needs a graphic print, silk scarf- period. And this season, Diane Von Furstenburg has got you covered with her elegant China Vine scarf. I think this color scheme on this print is genius!! This piece is something every woman could use in her wardrobe.
  •  Lastly, the Galya stole with floral embroidery from Dior's Couture collection is both crisp and elegant. I don't even think I need to explain why this won my heart <3 what wouldn't this look great with!? You could throw this over your LBD... or wrap it around your favorite light denim jacket...or pair it with a fabulous sweater top! ~swoon!~

Couture Snob Look of the Week: Love it or Hate it?

user-pic
lotw.jpg One of my favorite past times is shopping with girlfriends and giving each other no holds barred honest opinions. So I thought we'd have a little fun and vote on everyone's favorite outfits on Fridays! Since I am starting this-- I will go first, risk ridicule and let you all vote on my favorite outfit of the week. Please send us a photo of you or your friends in your favorite outfit of the week by Thursday of each week if you want to join in the fun! Email us your photo here!

so, here I am, in my latest favorite dress from Rick Owens that I picked up from the cutest little boutique in Brentwood called Post 26. The space was originally a post office in the 1950's but now it stocks chic little dresses and the best jeans! Post 26 225 26th St. 310-451-0950 More Rick Owens here.

I wish you could see the back of this delicious little dress, it is brilliantly deconstructed as Rick Owens does so fabulously, the fabric swoops and lifts the bum, and the bandage top holds EVERYTHING in! The silk scarf is Burberry and the necklace is from Suzanne Wilson. So, be kind to me... what do you think?

Scarf on Handbag

user-pic

jennifer_aniston.jpg
I love wrapping scarves on my handbags. Bag Snob Tina actually has some wonderful tips.

For me, when it comes to knotting scarves they're usually vintage Pucci. My grandmother was a big collector, an affinity she passed onto my mother and then later onto me. Wearing a silk scarf around my neck isn't so much my style, so tying one on one of my purses is an easy and fun way to get some wear out of them while adding a little pop to my handbags. I love doing this especially with the monochromatic ones (I am obsessed with anything brown leather from Miu Miu!) -- love the contradiction of simplicity and loud print. Plus, if you're worried about Pucci wears being too hard to pull-off, this is an easy alternative! Though finding vintage Pucci takes a little digging, some of the newer scarves, while still not completely on par with the classics, would make cute touches as well.

Celeb Fashion: Jen and Matta

user-pic
jenmatta.jpg
No, no, Matta is not her new boyfriend, though it's proven to be trustier than the guys she's been dating of late (I for one am rooting for her, just love the graceful way she's handled herself since crazy Brangelina started multiplying and dividing like rabbits).  The Dupatta scarf by New York based Matta has been seen on America's sweetheart, Jennifer Aniston, from coast to coast and abroad.  I am on a scarf kick myself lately, and not just Hermes, I picked up a few fabulously chic and nameless Moroccan scarves in Paris that I wear with everything, even a tank top.  Call 212-343-9399 to order or Check out Matta selections here.
