Lucila Iotti Shoes

user-pic

I'm obsessed with Lucila Iotti shoes! The super sexy shoes are designed by Iotti in her hometown of Buenos Aires where her father, Jorge Iotti, began his tailoring shop in 1920 (the designer has a boutique there as well...can't wait till March when I'm in Argentina to check it out!). Iotti uses a variety of colors and textures (patent leather, suede, satin, vinyl...) -- her shoes are definitely not for the shy. They're bold, loud, and demand attention, but paired with a LBD and some confidence they're simply magnifique! On a side note, Patricia Field has been a vocal admirer of this brand, so I wouldn't be surprised if one of these shoes make an appearance in SATC II:-) So far the shoes are only sold at the boutique in Argentina, but email info@lucilaiotti.com with the name of the style you like and they can mail it to you via Fedex (prices start at 710 pesos which is around $540).

Gucci Helena High Heel Open-Toe Platform Boots

I had a moment of insanity and almost took these boots instead of my new Givenchy tote but luckily my friend Judy from Atlantishome.com talked me out of it. Judy felt that 2010 will bring a new direction in shoes and that I wouldn't wear these more than a season (and for $1550 they better last years!). She is a total shoe snob so I knew if she thought this silhouette is going to be over soon, it must be.  I still love these cutout boots-- they are so fitted and tapered which is ultra flattering.  But that doesn't mean I am willing to shell out that kind of dough for it.  What I will do, however, is wait for it to go 70% off :)

Jimmy Choo Collaborating with Ugg Australia

user-pic
choougg.jpgchoougg2.jpg

File this one under love it or hate it.

On the heels of its hugely successful collaboration with H&M,Jimmy Choo this morning announced that it is partnering with UGG Australia to launch a limited edition, five-piece collection debuting in October. The label on each shoe will read: "Ugg & Jimmy Choo." This marks the first time the two footwear labels have worked together and the results will undoubtedly be eagerly anticipated by loyal fans of both brands. Given Jimmy Choo's luxe sex appeal, I personally cannot wait to see how glamorous these new Ugg boots will be (images were not readily available).

What I do know is that the collection will be based on the construction of Ugg's signature sheepskin boots "with design details that embody the spirit of the Jimmy Choo brand," the two companies said in a statement. Tamara Mellon, president and founder of Jimmy Choo, said that alongside her own label, "Ugg Australia is the only other footwear I have in my wardrobe."

Prices will range from $595 to $795--undeniably expensive--and the collection will be carried at select Jimmy Choo and Ugg Australia, online, as well as at certain department and specialty stores that carry Jimmy Choo.

A sheepskin stiletto boot? I don't know if I can handle that--but only time will tell.

Melissa Vivienne Westwood Shoes: Snob or Slob?

user-pic

melissa-heart-gold-bm.jpgmelissa-dragon-smoke-bm.jpgmelissa-aurora-gold-am.jpg

These awful looking shoes are the result of a collaboration between Vivienne Westwood Anglomania and Melissa shoes. To Vivienne Westwood's defense there are pretty much no Melissa shoes that end-up looking particularly attractive. People claim that they're amazingly comfortable (Melissa shoes are made out of recycled and recyclable plastic), but I find it hard to believe that plastic can be comfortable (though I have never tried a Melissa shoe on so I can't attest for sure). Comfortable or not however these shoes are hideous!

What do you think about this collaboration? Snob or Slob?

Yves Saint Laurent Elastic Ankle Boots

user-pic

I saw these online and loved them on sight but was concerned about the very skinny heel. They look so fragile and I've actually had a pair of heels break on me in college so I thought I'd best stay away. However, I tried them on the other day and can I say how chic they looked with black tights and a little dress!?!?  They also look like an extension of the leg and are really elongating which scores points for a short person like me.  I was shocked at how comfortable they are-- they actually felt like slippers.  There is another hidden platform inside the boots which gives your foot the support it needs with such a skinny heel and it's slightly padded. I ran around the store in them, stomped around, and jumped up and down-- very sturdy and def a must have.    Yves Saint Laurent Bootie at Saks

LANVIN - Insane Boots!

user-pic

lanvin_overthekneeboot.jpg

I had a lunch and shop date with my new shopping partners-in-crime Judy and Jane (Sea of Shoes and Atlantis Home) today and scored a crazy Comme des Garcons jacket/shrug that I'll have to post soon (no one knew how it was supposed to be worn and I think I figured it out but it was so weird I had to have it!).  My two favorite personal-style bloggers were their usual chicer than thou selves-- Jane had on a drool worthy pleated asymmetrical Ivan Grundahl leather skirt and Judy was in a pair of fabulous thigh high leather boots from Givenchy. The boots looked like snug fitting leather pants under her one shouldered tunic-- so chic!  I was so enamoured I went on the hunt for a pair that would be flattering on me.  I'm thinking these Lanvin Over-the-Knee Boot will do but it's so close to the end of the season that I refuse to pay full price for anything!  I'm watching these like a hawk and will swoop down the minute they go on sale.  I am not as tall as Judy so I'll need the height of the heels to balance the 25" shaft of thigh high boots, and check out the mirrored detail on the platform and heel-- insane!  $2,460.00 at Barneys.

Giuseppe Zanotti Wedge Boots

I was actually warming up to the foldover boot idea until I saw these. Did someone lose the bottom half of their pants?  These are so comical, like a pair of bootleg pants complete with it's own jewel.  Just looking at them makes me laugh and I expect them to start walking away.  Come to think of it, they should sell them as pants, cuz I'm certain all I need is my tights and underwear with these.

Louis Vuitton Cherie Sandal and Impressive Ankle Booties

user-pic

lvcherie.jpglvbooties.jpg I almost fell off my chair when I saw the Cherie shoes (left) from Louis Vuitton made of rich velvet and luscious suede puncuated with watersnake-effect leather details.  It's decadent but not flashy, and so sweetly wrapped up in sexy tassels.  What's not sweet is the hefty tag of $1,220 but when you really love something, let them eat cake!   The 4.5 inch heel is ferocious but don't worry about comfort, there is a padded insole.  At Louis Vuitton boutiques only! Call the newest LV boutique at North Park to order! 214-361-8566

I'm also drooling over the "Impressive" ankle booties in suede with patent leather trim.  Such a great twist to have the patent leather piping in drawstring style.  I'm attending a Louis Vuitton party this Thursday night, can't wait to try on the shoes in person!!!

Oscar + Alexandre Birman on Gossip Girl

user-pic

Gossip_Girl_3_08_The_Grandfather__Part_II.jpgoscardressgossip.jpg

Alexander_Birman_Python_Peep_Toe_Booties.jpgWow, is it me or did they really shorten the Oscar de la Renta dress for Blair's strut down the hallway?  I should try that with a few of my Oscar dresses, completely changes the look!

The edgy interpretation of Oscar's dress is capped off with Alexandre Birman python booties. I've been in love with Birman since the python platform sandals I purchased last spring and am pleased to note that despite his recent popularity, he has not jacked up his prices to four figures.  Now where in the world can you find well made exotic skin shoes under $600???  Apparently at Bergdorf Goodman--Alexandre Birman Python Peep Toe Booties $595.

Giuseppe Zanotti Foldover Boots

user-pic

giuseppezanotti_foldoverboot.jpg

Have you tried the latest trend in boots-- the foldover?  It is not a look for everyone (especially those with short legs) but this pair from Zanotti is really tempting!  It's sleek and streamlined, not as chunky as some of the other styles I've seen-- and the stiletto heel will also help elongate the leg.  But still, I'd stay away unless you have mile long legs.  Be careful what you wear with it, though.  You don't want to look like a Shetland pony!
