I can't explain the allure of
Azzedine Alaia. I mean the man has not done anything different for, like, 20 years but his little stretchy dresses still cause as much stir today as they did in the '80s. Perhaps that is his brilliance, why fix it if it's not broken right? I have a few key pieces of clothing from Alaia and don't feel like I ever need to buy any more, ever. A slim fit A line skirt, a cardigan and a sexy black dress-- basics I wear over and over, so what else does a girl need from Alaia?
A pair of fierce Alaia platforms! So it costs as much as your mortgage payment but let's not talk about that right now (I just know it will go on sale and I will wait until the last markdown like I did with the black satin and crocodile pair that I picked up for $270 that originally retailed for $1,850-- my size is always left, sometimes being the shortest girl in the 'hood is not such a bad thing!). Instead, let's discuss the beautifully hand cut lace pattern, also an Alaia signature. Peekaboo toe, ankle strap and insane 5" heel make them the perfect party shoes! And I don't care if I'll look like I'm wearing stilts. These are the baddest stilts on earth! They are $1,670 (gasp for air, go ahead, I'll wait) but like I said, I know they will make it to sale. So I'm waiting. If you're a size 7 I'd be more worried.
