Jimmy Choo "Python" Espadrille Wedges

user-pic

jimmy_choo_espadrille_wedge.jpg

Come to mama you lovely lovely espadrille!! Last year I got a pair of Choo's wedge espadrilles and lived in them, how are they so comfortable? And for summer, what can be more appropriate and carefree? In python, we are upping the ante in awesomeness by a thousand. It would be a million if it were real python but for espadrilles, it would be a bit excessive so I am ok with a smaller amount of fabulousness here. Ankle straps are my sexy favorites, so for a summer night out, while on a beach or coastal vacation, you can dress this way up for added swagger in your strut. At Saks Fifth Avenue for $395.

H&M x Sonia Rykiel Knitwear Collection

Swedish fast-fashion giant H&M looks to have another hit on its hand--this time courtesy of Sonia Rykiel. The French "Queen of Knits" launched her second collection (the first being a lingerie line) with a party in Manhattan last week that had all the core looks on display. Previewing them up close for the first time, it's quintessential Rykiel--Parisian chic. The pieces, out February 20 in 250 H&M stores, are whimsical yet wearable. No surprise that color was a key characteristic of the line, which offers a little something for everyone: from adorable bracelets and wedge sandals to flirty cocktail dresses and oversized overalls. There's even a separate children's line for ages 1 ½ to 8 years old. Is it a little kitschy? Undoubtedly. Is the studded beret a little costumey? Yes. But the quality is surprisingly soft and nice to the touch. The key here, as is with all these hi-low collaborations, is to mix and match the pieces with a well-edited eye, natch. The ruffles are signature Rykiel, as are the vertical stripes featured throughout. Take note, ladies: horizontal stripes are not made for every body shape; try, try, try these on. My favorite piece? The rainbow-hued strapless dress is true knit wit! To the trained eye, it screams Rykiel! To everyone else? Très chic!

Pierre Hardy for Gap Summer 2010 Shoes

user-pic

pierrehardygap.jpg

I popped into Gap's New York showroom yesterday to preview their upcoming collections and, much to my delight, discovered that it's all about "Brand Americana" for summer (think floral, folk rock, homegrown and white-on-white)! It makes particular sense given the brand's American roots (not to mention they're sponsoring this year's Costume Institute Gala, whose theme is "American Women: Fashioning a National Identity.") But my eyes were immediately drawn to the shoes, and I was happy to learn that Gap's partnership with Pierre Hardy continues on! What do you think of this first-look at the summer collection? The capsule includes three wedge styles and one flat denim gladiator version. The scarf-tie wedge is pretty cute to wear with an eyelet dress or skirt while the denim ones would like quite balanced with a thin motorcycle jacket and cigarette pants. Needless to say, these aren't the works of couture art Mr. Hardy does for Balenciaga, Hermès or his own line, but they continue to be a great way for every stylish girl to get herself a little bit of French-infused design!

$98 available at select Gap stores May 4

GIVENCHY Ankle Boots

user-pic

givenchyankleboots.jpggivenchyankleboots2.jpg

Fall's line up of booties is absolutely amazing and diverse. From open toes to studded, chained, strapped and zippered-- I want them all! These GIVENCHY booties are probably the most classic and wearable of the bad boy bootie bunch. The wedge is of reasonable height (3.5", in my world that's like running shoes) and the hardware is wrapped in the front and draped down the stacked wedge.  Gorgeous!  This is the perfect complement to skinny jeans, you don't want any wide bottoms covering up its glory!  Givenchy Ankle Boots $890 at Saks.

Biker Style + Red + Leopard print = Fall 2009

user-pic
mcqueenleatherjacket.jpgmcqueenreddress.jpgzanottiwedgeshoes.jpg You only need to know three key trends to look updated for Fall-- biker style, red and leopard print. Actually, it's one of those rare times when all three look amazing together! I just got the Alexander McQueen leather jacket (mine is a gorgeous green, I could not resist cuz it was 75% off!) and it is the best fitting jacket I've ever owned. Wear it belted or loose, it's just smoking hot! Of course when it comes to red, a fitted red wool crepe number from McQueen is a fail proof. Add a pair of killer leopard wedges from Giuseppe Zanotti and seriously, you are set for fall! And don't forget to shop your closet for these key looks before running out and spending a fortune. Haute Flops

user-pic

hauteflops.jpg

I'm on the beach in Malibu as you read this, I'm visiting Couture Snob Heidi at her fabulous beach house and we are enjoying running around being haute beach bums-- our daily uniform is some sort of breezy dress and a pair of Haute Flops (I have white, black and gray!). Each pair comes with a glittering crystal clip (my favorite is the starfish, so cute!) of your choice and it really dresses them up (or so we tell ourselves as we wear them to nice restaurants but hey, it's the 'Bu and everyone is super casual!). Created by two entrepreneurial moms who didn't want to sacrifice style for comfort, Haute Flops are adorable and super comfortable!   I noticed immediately that the cushiony wedge formed to the shape of my feet and I felt like I was walking on air. You can get the wedges in different heights-- 1.5" ($29.92) or 2.5" ($34.95) and even a pair for your little fashionista to match (sizes start at 3/4 Toddler for $24.95)!   Available in 9 colors with 3 crystal designs, your tot can customize her flops with matching rubber bracelets, too!  Shop for Lil' Hauteflops here.

Giuseppe Zanotti Half-Open Wedge Sandals

user-pic

guiuseppezanotti_halfopenwedgesandals.pnggiuseppezanotti_halfopen.pngicon

These are the craziest shoes I've ever seen. It is like the Phantom of the Opera half masked shoe for the slightly deranged and seriously obsessed. I love Zanotti, it was my shoe of choice for my wedding so I have a special place in my heart for it, but now seeing this, I am feeling like I might not be as sane as I thought. Well, of course designers go through phases and this is not indicative of the entire collection. Let's just hope. I can see how this might be more comfortable than strappy sandals especially with the wedge but even to be edgy this is just too weird. And really ugly. At Saks Fifth Avenueicon for $595.
