I don't want to date myself but I wore Donna Karan body suits since she started making them. I actually had a button up shirt very similar to this one (with less ruffles) and it was the BEST shirt ever, I wore it with everything from jeans to pants to skirts. It's just so smart! Did you know Elvis came up with a similar design for all his shirts? He had a strap sewn on to his shirts so they wouldn't become untucked from all his arm swinging and hip swiveling moves. Not that most of us have that particular need, but nobody looks good with a half tucked in shirt. The frumpy middle just makes us look fat and unkempt. There is a bit of elastic in the fabric so you can move without giving yourself a wedgie. I love it withDonna Karan's Leather-Trimmed Jersey Skirt ($850). The Ruffled Tuxedo Bodysuit
is $1295.

A number of celebs, including Ashely Tisdale and Kelly Brook, have been spotted in this Rebel Yell Love Hankie Tank ($57). I'm not usually a fan of any sort of drug reference, no matter how veiled, but I like the message on this one (goes well with my "Hugs not Drugs" tee from Local Celebrity!). The signature Rebel Yell cut is also super sexy - I only wish I had the laid back Cali attitude to pull off this top with black cut-offs like the model above!
It has come to my attention that I have become way too colorful. A friend blamed it on Texas but I say it's old age. There was a time that I'd only wear black/white/gray, but as I look in my closet right now, it's like someone threw up rainbow sherbert in it. Not that I'm going to stop wearing color (cuz god knows I love me a good pink dress) but I need more black to bring me back to my east coast sensibilities! And no one does black better than the Queen of 7th Avenue, Donna Karan. I'm thinking a good coat, pair of leggings and versatile top will be perfect foundation pieces and I can always incorporate color in as I please (obsessed with deep bloody red). Loving the options I found above (can I just say again how much I love my job? I shopped all weekend and called it work!):
Donna Karan Organza Tweed Jacket ($2,495) If there is anything I've learned throughout the years it's to invest in a one good coat each season. You can throw on anything underneath and look impeccably dressed.
Donna Karan Stretch-Jersey Leggings ($495) Forget Spanx, have you tried DK's jersey leggings? I love them with boots, sooooo chic!
Donna Karan Melange Stretch-Jersey Top ($750) This is a piece I can wear as is or with a belt. I can do a fitted belt or one slung low on the hip over leggings. Can it please get cold already? I'm buying my Fall wardrobe like a maniac and it's 100 degrees here!

In a surprising deviation from her usual monochromatic minidress look, Jennifer Aniston opted for a two-piece Lanvin for the red carpet premiere of her new film, "The Switch," Monday night in L.A. While she usually wears either some form of nude or black, Aniston chose to combine her two favorite hues (black is technically not a color, but a shadow). Can I be honest? Not a fan. Is it just me or does she look squeezed into the outfit? I love the skirt but the top isn't doing it for me. I would've paired the asymmetrical ruched skirt with an oversized crisp white man's shirt and pulled her hair back in a tight ponytail. It's a look she's done before--and with much aplomb. The shoes, however, are classic and the clutch--a black croco Ferragamo maxi clutch--is divine.

At first glance, I loved this Cacharel sweater dress ($295), but the more I thought about buying it, the more the dress started looking like a stylish version of a monk's robe. A lot of my thinking that probably has to do with the color and the way it's belted. Given that it's made from medium-weight fleece, I do think this would make a nice option for a chilly fall day and it definitely looks cozy, but I can't get the monk image out of my head!
What do you think about this Cacharel sweater dress - Snob or Slob?

It's almost that time of year! Can you feel the excitement? Fashion's Night Out, the world's single largest initiative to get consumers into stores to celebrate and enhance the art of shopping is September 10 and its sophomore effort already has over 1,000 retailers on tap. And what would be a night toasting fashion without its own collectible merchandise? The official Fashion's Night Out collection is available for purchase at hundreds of locations. Available in T-shirt (both $30 long-and- $25 short sleeve), $20 tank top and $60 hoodie forms, the pima cotton garments are emblazoned with the FNO logo and an abstracted cityscape print. What's more, 40% of proceeds being donated to the New York City AIDS Fund. I don't know about you, but I'll be sporting the heather grey hoodie come September.

Since discovering the Timo Weiland line a few weeks ago I feel like I must have amassed at least half of their S/S 2010 line! I own the pants the model above is wearing in two color-ways and just picked up this Timo Weiland Slouchy Cardigan ($264). It's made of 100% merino wool and has a contrasting silk back. It runs on the big side, so I would suggest ordering a size smaller than you usually wear. It's an easy-to-wear staple piece and I wore it the other day with the Timo hot pants as pictured above and it made for the perfect bold/conservative contrast (plus when I was feeling a bit self-conscious about my legs, which I rarely expose, I used the cardigan as a cover-up!).

There are few things cheesier than an I <3 NY tee, so I love this cheeky Andrew Kuo Googly Eye <3 NY Tee ($50) for pocking fun at them. The Opening Ceremony exclusive is part of a whole series of googly eye tees that NYC-based artist Andrew Kuo has designed. Others feature googly eye-topped pizzas and album covers with the artist's eyes replaced with googly eyes. Kuo has amassed a cult following here in NYC with his unique tees and they frequently sell-out in a couple of days when they hit Opening Ceremony. I keep thinking of those fabulous Giles Fall 2010 Puffball Bags when I see this tee!

I'm totally dying for this Essentials Set ($196), from Keep Me! Love the pouch (you can actually buy it separately for $6). The set includes the brand's Kate lounge pant, Dori v-neck tee, Drea bralette, and Trish undie, all of which are offered in all-black or all-white. Keep Me is and up-and-coming LA-based loungewear brand that manufactures all of their pieces in the U.S. from super-soft fabrics. They're great for comfy, but still sexy staples (you can think of them as the loungewear equivalent to Lulu Lemon). You can check-out the entire collection here.
I know everyone is shopping Fall now, but it is still hot and I am still in need of my vacation wardrobe. August, after all, is the vacation month of the year (just ask your European buddies). This tunic is just the perfect thing for beach and pool. Use it as a cover up or walk around town for lunch and shopping. The pockets add a wee bit of formality so pull on skinny jeans and this can make it into the evening. I love the rope details around the neckline, you won't have to bother with a necklace. Comes in various colors but this is by far the best, at Calypso for $165.
